[floatl]Image[/floatl]Cairns.com: Easy-peasy learning Japanese
SIX-year-old children are being taught Japanese at a Cairns school while still trying to master their ABCs. But child psychologists are divided on the benefits of the program with some warning the lessons could stifle classes learning English. The kids, believed to be the youngest in the Far North to learn another language, rack up about two hours a week through the classes, which are mandatory until year 9.

. . .

. . . "Japan is one of our largest trading partners," he said. . .

In light of that, the kanji being taught to them in the picture seems a most appropriate starting point.

Here's a foreign S&M mistress and "modern geisha" who goes by the name of "Satomi". She's based in Osaka and does Japanese-themed performances around the world. She seems to have a pretty interesting life and, yes, that's an octopus in the picture above which is from her Myspace page and was taken at an event she did in Oslo. She also has a site called Tokyo Love Doll which features more of her photos. It's probably NSFW but not especially hardcore.

That's a goodie Muly. Tanaka is of course noted as becoming the first Japanese female to become a director, but do you have any background on the pic?

It's from here and has the title "Tanaka with Bette Davis on her Diplomatic Mission to Hollywood (1949)"
...During the occupation, Tanaka took on yet another role when she was chosen by the Japanese government as the first official public relations delegate dispatched to the United States after the war...

Yeah, it's meiguoren or migookin depending on whether you're speaking Manadarin or Korean. Either way it means American.

But, the "Aho" is strictly J-go as far as I know. That's what's odd about it....
Maybe a little show by a Zainichi?
