Bruce Meyer, who is unemployed, has denied the allegation

I am sure the baby just decided to open the fridge on its own, crawl in, and closed the door just to chill in it. Riiiiight..

Before we ice this fg, what's the story on his wife/gf/all of the above? I've heard a lotta of these wierd stories in the couple of days I've been in town and a very large portion of them come out in the wash with a wife as the perp, or at least, involved....

Yeah, yeah, I know, but I'm going wait until I pass judgement....

OK Bruce, I've got you backed here. Next time the police come in to interrogate you, you need to claim you were conducting a scientific experiment ala BF Skinner's Baby Box. And just because the internal air conditioning was set a little too low, that doesn't mean the Japanese constabulary can stand in the way of scientific progress. Mistakes happen, and next time you'll adjust the temperature a tad so the kid still stays happy AND frosty fresh.

So what kind of person owns a freezer? I have never seen one in a house ever. A shop yes, but a house?

In Japan chest freezers are rare, BUT ...
When I was talking to a Costco manager two weeks ago, he said the Costco outlets in Kanto sell 50-100 units each month---Haier brand from China. He said their target market for freezers was large families. So perhaps putting babies in the freezer is popular time-out option here.

Are you just talking about people in Japan becuase it's not all that uncommon in the US (especially in more rural areas).

Indeed, here in Japan the floor freezers aren't all that uncommon either, especially in new houses. My father-in-law has one of the larger, more traditional shop sized freezers however, that he uses to store all the fish he catches *shudders* nasty things.

I think a lot of gaijin living in Kanto-clusterfuck rabbit hutches assume that represents all of Japan.

Woman found dead inside freezer at religious group's training facility
14 Oct - Mainichi
A woman has been found dead inside a freezer at a training facility of a religious organization here, police said. Shortly after 10 a.m. on Oct. 12, the woman who is believed to be a 45-year-old staff member of Nagoya-based religious corporation Dotoku Kaikan was found lying on the floor of the freezer at its training center in Nakatsugawa, Gifu Prefecture. There were no visible wounds on her body, and police suspect that the woman got trapped in the freezer after its doors closed unexpectedly for some reason...more....
