Another Celebrity Drug Scandal?

[floatl][/floatl]There are reports that model and actress Erika Sawajiri has been dropped suddenly by her agency, Stardust Promotion, on account of a "serious breach of contract". There is no official comment but already rumours are starting that the agency must believe that there is some evidence of drug use. Sawajiri has been major fodder for the weeklies over recent years and there was substantial coverage of her marriage in January to Tsuyoshi Takashiro (left). One report (Japanese) says that they attended the same club events as Noriko Sakai and her husband and both couples were on Amami Oshima for the solar eclipse where Sakai is accused of using stimulants. It also speculates that the two may have been involved with drugs during a stay on the Spanish island of Ibiza. It isn't clear whether Stardust has acted in advance of some public revelation or police action. Some believe that agencies may have tolerated bad or illegal behaviour in the past because they could have kept it out of the news. However, the fall-out of the Sakai case may mean that they can no longer take financial risk of keeping talent on the books if there is the potential for trouble.

Comments in Japanese on Twitter are also saying that Takuya Kimura and his wife Shizuka Kudo were on the same island during the solar eclipse which could get awkward for both if that becomes the focus of any more rumours.

Of course! Tokyo is squeaky clean. Japanese don't do drugs. Until the arrival of FG's, Japanese society was pure and clean and people never had the desire or knew what drugs are. FG's are responsible for tarnishing the image and Wa of Japan and the Japanese people.

Nikkan Sports (Japanese) also quotes an insider who suggests that Sawajiri's agent didn't like all the side projects her husband was setting up for her. This could certainly be a legitimate reason for a conflict but the speed at which her agent operated leaves suspicions that other factors were also at work.

Stardust have announced that they will ask everyone they represent to submit to drug testing. This further fuels the rumours that they were worried they might be somehow embarrassed by Sawajiri on that front.
