E Cigarettes Are A Better Alternative To Tobacco Per Ash
The anti-smoking group (ASH UK) makes some surprising statements concerning the electronic cigarette
Published on November 18, 2009

by Jeff Smith

(OfficialWire)

ST LOUIS, MO

With ASH (US version) holding a hard contempt for the e cigarette on the market, it's original founders in the UK have gone in a total opposite direction from the U.S. based ASH that mimicked ASH U.K. in working to save over 400,000 smokers a year from sure and miserable death.

The United Kingdom version of ASH organization has now released a document that states that one of the few downsides of the electronic cigarette is that the levels of nicotine as "low", and may not give users the amount of nicotine needed to keep them using the e cigarette over the real thing. They further state their support for other alternatives to tobacco.

"ASH supports a harm reduction approach to tobacco, that is, we see that while efforts to help consumers stop smoking should remain a priority, many people either do not want to stop smoking or find it extremely difficult to do so. For this group, we believe that products should be made available that deliver nicotine in a safe way, without the harmful components found in tobacco. Most of the diseases associated with smoking are caused by inhaling smoke which contains thousands of toxic chemicals. By contrast, nicotine is relatively safe. Therefore, electronic cigarettes, which deliver nicotine without the nasty toxins found in tobacco smoke, are likely to be a safer alternative to smoking. Also to add, e-cigarettes reduce secondhand smoke exposure since they do not produce smoke."

Recent studies conducted by doctors show that 45% of electronic cigarette users stopped smoking tobacco within 8 weeks of starting with the product, along with other studies by trusted companies around the world stating that e cigarettes are between 100 to 1000 times much safer and/or better for the user, combined with the destroyed credibility of ASH in the U.S. due to the discovery of millions of dollars in financial ties to the pharmaceutical industry, Is it any wonder that the people in the US are expecting the electronic cigarette to be around for quite awhile?

Has anybody else tried these yet?
I've only had three real cigs in the past week since these came in the mail.
I love the Power Glove... It's so bad.

I have an ecigarette. It takes a while ot get use to, if you suck too hard it tends to get some of the nicotine/ glycerol solution in your mouth. there are a number of different methods that are employed to make these devices work, but the crux of it is: there is an ionizer that hovers above a filter with above mentioned solution in it. When you pull air through it, it activates the ionizer which vaporizes the solution. The filters are rather expensive, but I have found places on line that sell just the solution so you can pack your own.

Sale of esmokes have dropped off in the states though until the FDA finishes its investigation into the efficacy and safety of them

Why not just smoke the real thing - responsibly. The worst thing about smokers in general is their complete disregard for those (and environment) around them. Including common airspace. For example:

1) Leaving their shitty butts all over the place. Hey , I dont wipe my ass randomly and throw shit stained paper in the street for YOU to walk in.

2) Endangerment. I have a 3yo daughter and cant tell you how many times I've come close to bitch slapping idiots dangling their coal near her face. Sorry - she is not available for S&M ash tray interrogation.

3) Pollution. 2nd hand smoke in a common airspace just sucks. For everyone. Its not so bad if the concentration per person is reasonable - say at the level of a diesel bus passing by [sic] , but in common public areas in Tokyo it can get downright LA circa 1969.

4) Health. Honestly I dont give a rats ass about the health effects as I dont smoke. In fact, I'd prefer to see smokers puff away at max level until they expire. In the long range, this will actually decrease health care costs due to 'early retirement'. So, cost of smokes should be reduced - or in fact - government subsidized and provided free.

Hey, I don't know what your problem is; I love it when smokers share their cigarettes with me. I return the favor by spit-spraying my drink in their faces.. But they never seem to appreciate a well-mixed long island iced tea, or my rights as a drinker. :p

1) if you own a dog, chances are I have stepped in your or other dog owners shit.

2) I dont drive a car, truck, or van yet I am forced to suck up their pollution, far more than that of a second hand smokers.

Actually, they're imported as 'aromatherapy' devices.. :)

Seems like it gets mixed reviews on Amazon. Version 2 might be better..

Another tip from my friend:
.. the shit left in the vaporizer after use is calle vapo poop and is really good for cooking..
And other info..

This is German engineering. Had it been a Japanese invention it would have been a tampon insertion device / air freshener or creepy masturbation device

I dont own a dog and also think that anyone not cleaning up after their urban house rats should be severely bitch slapped. But this topic is about smokes - not pets. Dont get me started.

Haven't owned or driven a motor vehicle in more than 9yrs and agree that the pollution from such vehicles far outweighs the common smoker's fog. However, in closed areas, cigarette smoke carries much higher concentration of CO and particulates than an auto exhaust.

The e-sig is cool cause its at least an attempt at a better delivery mechanism for nicotine. At least weed smokers have some incentive to improve the delivery mechanisms, both social, legal and for efficacy purposes. Somehow this grasp of common courtesy and behavior has passed up the majority of nico-stick users.

Hey Doc, you're not a smoker, so I should inform you that dried dog turds should not be overlooked. When you're out of butts, anything that will light and draw like a well rolled cheroot ain't all that bad!

Well, unless you grow your own food with your own fertilizer and don't buy anything, everything you consume is brought in a truck, van, ect.

Hmm, I've seen a show where a woman "smoked" a ciggy with her...

Don't think it would have been as riveting using an e-cig...
