I'm terribly sorry. I just didn't see you. Next time I will at least say "Hi."

Either this crosses the line between reality and fiction, or you left out the word "probably."

It's an autobiography.

This poster seems to know far too much detail about the guy's panties.

Chan, this clearly disturbed you, otherwise you wouldn't have taken the time to write out your account. I'm glad you didn't do anything because it would probably have rebounded on you. Sure, Japan is a society where people may look the other way a little too much but the flipside of that equation is that people get the benefit of the doubt. Your man may have been a bit kinky but he may not have posed a threat to anyone. I'm pretty sure the other guys who saw him would have passed the word around without having to call him out. They may even have known about him before. The bigger threat is from people who hide their dubious predilections, not those who display them for all to see.

Of all the groups of people who should be wary of targeting people for a crime they *might* commit, it is us foreigners in Japan. There is already plenty of hassling of foreigners by police, checking for things they think we are likely to do. I sure wouldn't want to encourage this style of thinking, even if it is targeting another group.

On the other hand, creepy panty-wearing oyajis outnumber us foreigners about 2 to 1, so maybe we can get the police to focus on these guys instead of us.

Yeah, I have long since developed the 1000-yard-stare for the gym changing rooms. They have no shame walking around with no towel on, and on numerous occasions have seen guys bring their daughters into the changing room, even though they were not too young to be on their own. It was kind of twisted.

As for the panty guy, just be glad that in most countries that guy would be ridiculed beyond belief and afraid to be seen in public ever again, but here, people just look the other way, I suggest you do the same.
I am not really sure where I am going, I just hope that when I get there, I can sit down because I am sure my feet will be tired.

That kind of shit makes me uncomfortable too but objectively I think it's more twisted that people from the Anglo world are so uptight about the human body.

I think you may be missing the larger point of bring you children into the changing room. To remind (and scare) them of just how discussing, filthy and uncivilized the subhuman gaijin are.

Maybe fathers bring their daughters into the change room to be sure they're not out there alone with lolly-pants man...

And let's not forget that a significant number of Japanese fathers bathe with their daughters, usually until their daughters refuse to bathe with them anymore, and then get all samishii about it.

Phmeh ... it's a cultural thing.
