Arsonist sets alight 140,000 origami cranes in Hiroshima
HIROSHIMA -- A staggering 140,000 origami cranes made as peace offerings were burned to ashes at the peace memorial park here, resulting in the arrest of a university student Friday, police said.
Some 140,000 origami cranes were turned to ashes.
Junya Yamamoto, 22, a Kwansei Gakuin University student from Higashi-Osaka, has admitted to the allegations, saying, "I did it because I have been frustrated since failing to graduate (in March this year)."
