JAPANESE LION ESCAPES

Tama Zoo employees recover the "lion" which was found unconscious at the zoological garden in Tokyo after reportedly drinking all night at a nearby karaoke bar. A subsequent biopsy revealed that it was not in fact a lion but merely a suit containing an ex-zoo employee, who mysteriously vanished last March.
We sometimes lose worker, said a Tama Zoo employee, Mr Gochi, especially around big animals area, like crocodile one. So no one surprised when he vanish.
Authorities suspect that the employee is part of a gang that sells exotic animals to zoos around Japan for large sums of money but then substitutes fake animals for the ones in their brochures.
Tama Gochi added: We become suspicious when he insist on having car painted like zebra, Image
but he says this is normal in Africa, plus he popular with all visitors, so he was allowed to drive into town sometimes. We didn't know it wasn't real lion.

More fake animals escape from the zoo

Postby kurohinge1 » Fri Feb 27, 2004 4:30 pm

This time a papier-mache rhino escaped ! MDN

Image

Ueno zoo workers hold a net to surround a running papier-mache rhino ...

They really need to keep these fake animals under control.

... during a drill to prepare the park to deal with situation in which a ferocious animal accidentaly escapes ... and "injures" visitors and zoo workers as it roams ... and is finally shot with a tranquilizer gun and captured.

Surely this is taking jobs from FG's. A typical night in some of the lively parts of Tokyo could harvest hundreds of ferocious FG's running amuck and who would (after a few drinks) gladly play tag with the park staff for a few extra yen.

New Escape Foiled

Postby kurohinge1 » Sat Apr 02, 2005 7:16 am

King Pin Penguin Pounced On

In news just to hand, it appear that Tokyo's Ueno Zoo has stopped an escape bid by a fake penguin, on loan from Tama Zoo, which was recently in the news after it was reported that many of its fake animals had escaped permanently.

"We know of trouble at other zoo," said Mr Shouganai, "so we keep eye on this one," he added, pointing towards the fake penguin in the antarctic enclosure.

Zoo staff became suspicious when the penguins did not turn up for dinner and discreet monitoring by security cameras installed in the enclouse (also the subject of controversy when it was suggested that staff were using them to look up the skirts of female zoo-goers) overheard the fake Penguin coaching the real penguins into staging a diverion on the morning of 1 April 2005, in the hope of making April Fool's of the Zoo officials who boasted earlier in the year that "no fake animals can escape from this zoo."

'Don't cry children, I was only aping about'
The Daily Mail, 20:55pm on 27th February 2007
As acting goes, it was a little too convincing.
The idea was to test the readiness of zoo staff for the escape of a dangerous animal.
But despite the ludicrously obvious disguise of the runaway beast, its pre-ordained destiny - to be shot with a tranquillizer gun - had children in tears...more...

Gorilla Escapes at Dutch Zoo, Injures 4
May 18 02:54 PM Associated Press, AMSTERDAM, Netherlands---A 400-pound gorilla escaped from his enclosure and ran amok in a Rotterdam zoo Friday, biting one woman, dragging her around, and causing panic among dozens of visitors before he was finally subdued, officials and a witness said.
The Diergaarde Blijdorp zoo was evacuated and the 11-year-old gorilla, named Bokito, was eventually contained in a restaurant within the park...
Four people were injured, including the woman who was bitten, zoo director Ton Dorrestijn said....

By the way, you'd think someone getting eaten by a lion would have more to say than "Itai-yooo!".

Brilliant! Thanks Taro-san.

I love this event.

I humbly suggest that local FGs make this an annual picnic-day / event, and I sincerely hope to attend one year. I'm just waiting for my hunting rifle to clear J-customs.

The event needs a suitable name, though, . . . (Nigeru Matsuri?).

And maybe the more "genki" FGs can wear animal outfits and run around in "the zone", just to give the escaping fake animals better odds?

I think I'll start crocheting a funky Gibbon outfit tonight!

;)

Replace the rifle with a tranquillizer dart gun full of gin the event would have some real fun potential.

What a total bunch of idiots in that clip.
As if, the fence they put up would stop an average sized 3.5 ton Rhino from mowing them down like ants!
The sticks they are using to prod it would not discourage it at all and would simply make it even more aggressive.

Seems like the same tactics they used on the British guy in the imperial moat, which also didn't work.
