Best line from John Mica Rep FL

As the grandson of the founder of toyoda motors, I am embarrassed for you that you have to sit here in the middle of a congressional hearing. I am embarrassed for your grandfather.

You are undermining the good working people of toyoda. You are making rookie mistimes.

I'm a littul scared by the perception on Toyota's problem.

If you go on automotive engineering sites, everything is explained, even how to recreate some of the problems (including one by Wozniak himself). And recomend to kill the cars with fire or nuke them form orbit...

You go to fark... or worse... digg... Everybody believe it's the same -non- problem as Audi in the 80' and the democrat are pushing an agenda against Toyota...
For digg, toyota even push the fun to include paid link to false blog post glorifying the courageous recall of their cars and how their behaviour is wonderfull and way beyond the call of duty... you might even shed a tear... unless this kind of bullshit trigger explosive vomitting... like in my case... dadinlaw Prius was recalled yesterday for a software upgrade it seems... not a lot of data came throught...

Honestly... even if it's going to be awefull for the economy... I'd say "let them crash and burn" that the point of capitalism... the good survive... if you let the bad one survive too because "it create jobs" then you are already bending the rules behind recognition...

Toyota execs grilled in Ottawa

Postby james » Tue Mar 16, 2010 11:47 pm

Several Toyota executives appeared Monday morning at a Commons committee hearing in Ottawa to answer questions about recent recalls.

Toyota has recalled about 8.5 million vehicles worldwide since last fall because of acceleration problems in multiple models and braking issues in the Prius.

MPs questioned Stephen Beatty, managing director of Toyota Canada Inc., about sticky accelerators and safety concerns.

Bloc Québécois MP Mario Laframboise expressed concern over the secretive way he felt Toyota dealt with the expanding crisis.

"You took too much time to find out what the problem was and also too much time to talk to people about it," he told Beatty in French.

Toyota had attack plan against congressional testimony, documents show
Toyota officials sought to develop a public relations campaign to attack the credibility of key witnesses who have testified before Congress about acceleration problems with the company's cars, according to documents provided to the House committee investigating the automaker.

The effort was based in part on polling conducted for Toyota by Joel Benenson, President Obama's chief pollster. His poll questioned the integrity of the witnesses: Sean Kane, a Massachusetts safety consultant, and David Gilbert, an auto technology professor at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Congressional investigators have demanded to know from company officials whether a campaign to debunk or discredit their witnesses was put into action.

The company says it never produced advertisements based on the polling. Still, plans for the campaign have drawn the ire of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which, upon learning of them, told the automaker to hand over all related documents.

Lawmakers "would take very seriously any effort to malign or intimidate witnesses who cooperate with our investigations," a committee spokesman said in a statement Friday...
