Parting Death Knell to English Teacher Drones

Postby Taka-Okami » Sun Feb 28, 2010 4:29 pm

For all you english teacher drones, better start thinking of another career.

http://www.popsci.com.au/technology/article/2010-02/south-korea-gives-go-robot-english-teachers-classrooms

A shortage of English teachers has compelled South Korea to take the next logical step and plan a $45 million rollout of robotic teaching assistants. That official go-ahead follows several months of robot trials, io9 says based on Korean news reports. But the idea of replacing old fashioned human English teachers has already stirred much debate.

The robotic teachers would deploy in 500 preschools by 2011, and 8,000 preschools and kindergartens by 2013. In the short run, that could help address the lack of English teachers in rural areas or remote islands. Learning English represents a necessary educational step for competitive South Korean students, and especially those aiming to study abroad at major universities in the U.S.

:D That's hilarious. They already speak English like robots. How do they expect robots to teach them better English?

Yeah, because robots will be able to explain many concepts in the English language like idioms, expressions, and basic ways of speaking. I am so glad that students will be able to express that the enjoyed everything and that they will made many memoreis, and that during their trip to Australia they were surprised to see to many foreigners. No I am not bitter at all. But, fuck the whole English education system and I for one am glad that in just a few months I am done with the bullshit.

My theory, in 15 years Japan is going to have its own system of English like the Americans or Australians, just no "a" or "the" and especailly no "PC" bullshit and that "We Japanese" will be acceptable.
I am not really sure where I am going, I just hope that when I get there, I can sit down because I am sure my feet will be tired.
