The BBC showed an interesting documentary called "Requiem for Detroit?" which described what appears to be the collapse of a major city. There's only a short clip on YouTube right now but I suspect the whole programme might appear somewhere and it's worth a look.

Very interesting.

I went to Detroit back inthe mid 90s to get my visa to come to Japan and at that time the Japanese Consulate was (is still?) located in the Renaissance Center along the Detroit River. It was like a little oasis of clean office space surrounded by boarded up, unused buildings. And across the river in Canada you could see many trees, and safety. It was a huge contrast. But the scenes in the video look a lot worse than what I remember seeing.

In Michael Moore's Bowling For Columbine he contrasts Detroit with Windsor (Canada) which are only separated by a river.

The choice of Eminem as the background music is appropriate since he's from Detroit, too.

Now, it takes 4-6 clicks to finally close the freakin' ad, and at the end of some vids, an ad is shown as a second vid as though you have the autoplay feature working, and this second vid cannot be stopped or paused.

I don't mind (at least not as much) the commercial playing at the end that can't be stopped. They gotta make their money. But I do hate the pop ads that actually block what you're trying to watch.

I don't think "publishing" per se will disappear, but the format is likely to change (basically already has changed is probably a better way to put it).
