what's the typical holiday schedule for obon this year? ie what days are most people / companies taking off?

edit: yeah, just realized i probably don't need that honorific o there in the title.

I don't work at a company, but my main client will be closed down for the second week of August (8-14). I'm sure someone else can clarify which are the "official" three days though.

The actual calendar days of obon are the same every year, Aug 13,14,15.

As it's not a national holiday each company picks and chooses how much they'll close. Generous companies close for the whole week, stingy ones only for the actual 3 days (and some not at all). This year really sucks for anyone who works somewhere stingy cause they're only going to get the Friday off. Other places are likely to close Mon 9th to Fri 13th.

My boss only allows you to take days off for Obon if you're dead. If you're breathing, it is punch the time clock and hit the desk on time.
