Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Something isn't right here. I have made numerous complaints about Gaisaradatsuraku's racist speech on this site to the moderators and nothing happened. In fact 'now' you guys are so used to his hate speech he's become part of the family and you seem to basically accept it because he occasionally says something intelligent as well (dumb racists=bad, clever racists=good?). But now some guys get on here and talk too much about sexing japanese women and THEY should be banned?? What's going on here? I dislike Josh's and NWA's post as much as anyone and think they should stick with the YD site, but if you're gonna ban THEM, then you should be consistent and also ban people here to 'refuse' to stop using racist epithets (such as Gaisaradatsuraku, Mr. Peace&Love all of a sudden).

Regarding my last exchange with him, I'd like to point something out. I posted that I would gladly meet him in person and say the things I say on this board to him in person. Provocative? Yes. A threat or promise of violence from me? Absolutely not. I'm an adult with my own business and a great life, fighting some stranger from the Internet at this point in my life would just be childish. I was actually hoping he'd say something like, "okay tough guy, we'll have a brew and talk these things out." Perhaps we'd wind up exchanging stories about japan or whatever and come to an understanding. What happened? The guy creates a whole new thread devoted to calling me out to "beat my ass" in Bryant Park. Is "this" kind of behavior/online threat acceptable here? Is it not worthy of banning? Is it "less" offensive/over the line than talking disrespectfully about japanese women? If you ban them, you should ALSO ban violent racists. If you don't ban violent racists, you should not ban these other guys for talking offensively about women. Anything else simply would not be consistent or fair.

By the way, believe it or not I've met some of you in person in Japan at the old Pink Cow, all very cool people. Which is why I'm so puzzled that you'd balk at too much sexist talk, but seemingly live with racist speech here. When someone like me complains about racist speech on the site, having the moderator and board regulars tell me to hit the "ignore" button on the bbs simply isn't good enough. If it "is" good enough, then why don't you just hit the "ignore" button on Josh, NWA, and TedBundy? If you're gonna clean house, be fair and balanced (and I don't mean the FOX News version).

I think freedom of expression should be allowed. If you don't like a particular user and want to ignore them, simply click the ignore button, or don't respond to their posts. Nothing says you have to read those threads or comments like "Which is better, Jap, Gook, or Chink?

I mean, I wouldn't read them if I didn't find it interesting or of value..

inherently this board needs moderation. That is not a difficult thing to do. But banning users is really pointless, considering they can register, post, etc.. under different IP strings, proxy servers, or spoofed IPs.

And as for the racist speech, I think it is, in a way, good to get that shit out in the open. Some of you people are really hung up on words over actions. Those of you who have the deepest kneejerk reactions probably have the least understanding of what racism really is. Racism is NOT when somebody slings a word as an insult to hurt/annoy someone. Racism is not when a word is said out of anger or frustration or for shock humor. Racism is something different completely from the use of a word and you all ought to figure out what the word racism really means. Get over your "Epithet=Racism=Bad" public education funded mindset. I believe in the saying, "many a truth is hidden in jest." In this case meaning, when you blurt out something in a moment of passion/anger/humor, it usually reveals how you "really" feel about someone. Based on your "mere words" it's clear to me that you don't hold black people in high regard. It's also seems you also have some issues with other races as well. That's fine, free world, do your thing. But if you really aren't a racist, yet most of the people here are asking that you don't use certain racially charged terms, heck, why not just find other words (insulting yet non-racial) to use and move on. I think when you use a word like "Chink" to describe Chinese people knowing in full knowledge that is is a word that your audience considers racist and you use it simply to demean the Chinese race, that is being racist.

But you most excuse me for making an assumption about a person who uses the word "Chink" to describe Chinese people. The poster MIGHT have been using it to get a reaction.
