Denied entry? That's nicely disingenuous. I thought he was nabbed on the way out on a tip-off from the US.

Bobby hasn't been in the news much lately. Here's one recent mention:
NY Post: Bobby, Tolya May Be Game For Gothic
WOULD you believe in a 12-game match of a chess variant between Bobby Fischer and Anatoly Karpov in the Philippines? Avid amateur Ed Trice does, and he says he put together a $14 million prize fund to make it happen. Trice, who got interested in chess at Drexel University two decades ago, devised "Gothic Chess" using a 10-by-8-square board and two new pieces. Jose Capablanca proposed a similar idea, but Trice said he proved via computer that White has a forced win in Capa's faulty version. In March, Trice got Karpov to sign an informal agreement to play Bobby, with $10 million for the winner. In June, Trice visited Iceland and met with Fischer's longtime friend Fridrik Olafsson to get Bobby's consent. They offered Fischer a $20,000 check just to talk. But Bobby insisted on cash, and no meeting was held. Now he's asking for $50,000 to talk. But Fischer is fascinated with Gothic Chess, Trice said, and indicated he'd be interested in playing Karpov in the Manila area. Now Trice is waiting for Fischer to choose a hotel. Does he really believe this will happen? "I wouldn't be wasting my effort if I didn't," he told me.

Hmmm, Bobby must want to hook up with his girlfriend, Justine Ong , a 24 year - old Chinese-Filipina living in Manila (with his 6 year old daughter, Jinky Ong) again after couple of endless winters in Iceland with "wife", Miyoko Watai.:p

Hmm...the peripatetic-psycho-strategy-game-playing Bobby seems to have a way with the Asian chix, not unlike Sam Sloane, another peripatetic-psycho-strategy-gamer.

rue life story of a boy who grew up in the ghetto in the Bedford Stuyvesant Section of Brooklyn, who joined the Army and who in 1946 became one of the first occupation soldiers stationed in post-war Japan. He became completely fluent in the Japanese Language and was assigned to interrogate Japanese Prisoners of War. He later opened his own Japanese English Language School. He became an expert in Japanese guns, coins and swords and dealt in these and other Japanese artifacts and became a multi-millionaire doing this. He got so rich that he bought a condominium apartment across the street from the Japanese Imperial Palace. He deflowered 61 Japanese virgins, fathered numerous Japanese children and eventually became such an important figure in Japanese life that in 1995 the Japanese set a carefully planned trap. They arrested and deported him from Japan and took away most of the wealth he had accumulated and tragically took away most of his prize collection of 61 Japanese virgins, except for the few who followed him to America.

Bobby Fischer, rock icon:

A Rook House For Bobby by iLIKETRAINS
They've made mountains out of mole hills
Let them climb
They can chase me to the ends
Of the Earth

And if they find me
Let them indite me
I just don't care any more

They've pushed me too far, too far
They've pushed me too far, too far

All this talk of war
But it's only a game

All I ever wanted to do is play chess with you
But if they find me
They will indite me
I just can't fight anymore

They've pushed me too far, too far
They've pushed me too far, too far

We'll build this rook house here for Bobby
We'll build this rook house here for Bobby
We'll build this rook house here...

Chasing the king of chess

Postby FG Lurker » Mon Dec 14, 2009 8:04 pm

Chasing the king of chess
Los Angeles Times, September 21, 2009
Like a lot of kids in the summer of 1972, I was riveted by a strange spectacle unfolding in Iceland: a chess match between Soviet grandmaster Boris Spassky and Bobby Fischer, the mercurial young American.

The games weren't televised -- Fischer permitted no cameras -- so chess experts replayed the moves on public television using oversize boards. Through long summer days, I puzzled over poisoned pawns and bishop pairs as Fischer, after nearly walking out on the match, crushed the Russian champion.

Through solitary study and determination, Fischer had toppled a Soviet chess establishment that had every advantage: better coaching, state stipends, access to the latest games and opening theory.

I got caught up in the chess mania that swept the country after Fischer's victory. The craze quickly faded, but my fascination with Bobby never did.

Over the years, I read everything I could find about him, replayed his most famous games and talked with friends of his who frequented the Marshall Chess Club in New York, scene of some of his triumphs.

In time, my interest shifted from Fischer's chess to a much murkier aspect of his life: the identity of his father.

Bobby's life story, like his behavior, was bizarre and complicated. At the height of his powers, he abandoned the game and went into seclusion, surfacing periodically to spout paranoid, anti-Semitic screeds and to denounce the United States. He died last year at 64 in Iceland, the only country that would have him.

It seemed to me that if I was to get a better grasp of this elusive figure, I needed to know more about his origins.

Bobby was born in Chicago and raised in Brooklyn by a single mother, Regina Fischer. She told people his father was a German biophysicist named Gerhardt Fischer. The couple divorced when Bobby was a toddler. That's about all that was known.

The dearth of details about Gerhardt and his role in Bobby's life whetted my curiosity. What was he like? Did he share his son's intellectual gifts? What kind of relationship did they have?

My wife, fellow journalist Clea Benson, came to share my interest, and before long it morphed into something of an obsession.

There are so many FG Bobby Fischer threads that I wasn't sure where to put this! Decided to add it to the thread with the most recent activity.

I haven't had time to read the entire article yet but it promises to be an interesting read...

Iceland to exhume chess champion Bobby Fischer over paternity test claim
ICELAND'S Supreme Court has ruled that the remains of chess legend Bobby Fischer can be exhumed for a paternity test to settle a dispute over his estate. The Supreme Court overturned a ruling today by the District Court of Reykjavik last month and decided to allow the disinterment of Fischer's body to test if he was indeed the father of Jinky Young, 9, from the Philippines, as her mother claims, RUV said. Fischer, who died on January 17, 2008, is buried at the cemetery of Laugardaelir Church in southern Iceland.

His estate is estimated to be worth about $US2 million ($2.31 million) and is reportedly contested by three parties in addition to Young: a wife, two American nephews and the US Government, whom he owed unpaid taxes. According to RUV, new evidence had emerged that Fischer had transferred money to Young's mother in 2006 and 2007, boosting her case that he was in fact her father. The court therefore allowed DNA to be taken from Fischer's remains and compared to genetic matter from the girl and her mother.

US-born Fischer, who made world headlines when he defeated Soviet world champion Boris Spassky in their Cold War showdown in Reykjavik in 1972, took Icelandic citizenship in 2005 to avoid being deported to the US. He was wanted for breaking international sanctions by playing a chess match in Yugoslavia in 1992.

Bobby Fischer's body exhumed over paternity row

DNA samples taken from US chess champion's corpse that was dug up in Iceland to determine whether he fathered Filipino girl

"Authorities have exhumed the body of US chess champion Bobby Fischer to determine whether he is the father of a nine-year-old girl from the Philippines, according to reports.

The broadcaster RÚV claims Fischer's corpse was dug up in a cemetery near Selfoss in southern Iceland yesterday.

The exhumation reportedly took place in the presence of a doctor, a priest and the local sheriff, Ólafur Helgi Kjartansson. Fischer was reburied after DNA samples were taken, according to Kjartansson.

Fischer died in Iceland in 2008, aged 64. He left no will and legal wrangling over his estate continues."

Fuck the DNA tests, Jinky is his. I know this cunt like the back of my hand, and he did it. Mind you, he got a shag out of a great Filipina for it, then pulled off a marvel by pretending to be married to a frumpy old Japanese bird who backed him to the hilt...Wacko though he may have been, the guy was a genius.

All that digging for nothing...

All that digging for nothing...
Iceland Review via The Daily Beast, August 17, 2010
All that digging for nothing: Bobby Fischer is not the father of Jinky Young, a Filipino girl. Jinky's mother, Marilyn Young, said that Fischer impregnated her years ago. In order to test Jinky's paternity, authorities in Iceland exhumed the late chess master's corpse in order to obtain a biological sample that could determine whether he was her father--and whether, consequently, Jinky was entitled to his inheritance estimated at $2 million. He didn't leave a will. Fischer was buried in a cemetery in southern Iceland.

Looks like Marilyn was getting it from a few sources... ;)

Marilyn was quite alarmed by this set back and has just announced that she had made a mistake when she had announced it was Fischer. She said that she had mis-spoke and had meant to say "FG Lurker" and it had come out Fisher. She has said she will now correct that and intends to go after all of Lurk's cash.....

If that's Marilyn on the right there's no doubt I'd hit it... However, I think you may be confused about her recent announcement. I think the confusion was Bobby vs Greiji rather than Fischer vs Lurker. ;)

If you are insinuating that that's me in that picture with the mother (that I would also hit in a Fukuoka Flash), I think you are completely confused Lurk, first of all I haven't been as young as that guy for more than 20, or 30 years...
