The traces of the harmful chemicals are thought to have leaked from four glass bottles that were found at the site in Hiratsuka. The Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport and Kanagawa Prefecture officials announced the discovery on Friday.
The bottles, some of which were sealed and some of which were broken, were unearthed by workers on April 3.
