I gotsta take an entrance test next week (the GRE Economics "subject test" - ain't that about a bitch?). Historically, I've been able to obtain good results by ingesting dangerously high dosages of caffeine. Not even sure if caffeine tablets exist in Japan, though, and coffee results in distracting reveries of urination. Any recommendations from among the ecosystem of energy drinks? Or are they all shite and snake oil? I want something with caffeine, nicotine, you name it, something that'll shake, rattle, and roll my little cognitive world for a few precious hours and then leave me a dry husk after the effects wear off.

RedBull taste like crap... and only work mixed with coffee for me. (yea... nearly as usefull as SGL...) For my exam, adrenalin rush was the best stuff to keep me awake.

Catone,
I've gotta tell you how disappointed I was to read this thread after having first read the title and built up incredible expectations while my orifice computer took its normal several minutes to download the page a la 1996.
Having said that, I'd recommend Yakult's Tuffman Gold.

Checked out a couple of combinis, and all they had on offer was stuff that had a paltry 50mg of caffeine. I tried something called "Repobeeman" (Repoman? Reeperbahn?); useless. Not even a placebo effect. And Yakult: that's like an Amway thing, isn't it? You have to buy it from those little ladies on the little scooters, right? There sure was no Yakult Tuffman Gold on offer at the combinis. I'll have a look at Matsumoto Kiyoshi tomorrow.
