I don't like Fridays, either (stabbing spree in Toride)

Saw the news flash just as I was leaving for work this morning, it's still just on the Japanese news.

A 27-year-old man boarded a bus in front of Toride station in Ibaraki and began stabbing high school students. At least 13 people injured, no deaths reported.

It's been a while since we've had a nutball running loose like this...I really admire the way these crazies always go after people who've been asking to be treated violently and leaving innocent, defenseless bystanders alone.

Wasn't there a stabbing attack inside Toride station just a few years ago?

Postby kuainiri » Fri Dec 17, 2010 12:45 pm

I wouldn't believe it when I saw it on the news, I live 5 minutes away from the station.
@sublight That other stabbing that happened a few years back was in Arakawaoki Station, it's about 2 or 3 stations from Toride.

Mainichi: 13 injured after man attacks bus passengers with knife at Toride Station
A man with a knife attacked passengers on two buses near a railway station here on the morning of Dec. 17, injuring a total of 13 people, police said. At around 7:50 a.m. a local fire station received an emergency call saying that a woman had been stabbed outside the west entrance of JR Toride Station in Toride, Ibaraki Prefecture. Police rushed to the scene and arrested the man, Yuta Saito, 27, who claims to be unemployed, on suspicion of attempted murder. He was in possession of a kitchen knife measuring about 20 centimeters in length. "I wanted to end my life," the man was quoted as telling investigators.

Five people sustained non life-threatening injuries after they were slashed by the man, while eight others escaped with minor wounds. Eleven of those injured were students of Edogawa Gakuen junior and senior high schools, police said. According to the bus operator, Kanto Railway Co., the two buses were bound for Edogawa Gakuen, and the leading vehicle was almost filled with students while the other was crowded with ordinary passengers when the knife attack took place.

The man first approached the leading bus that was stopped outside the west entrance of the station and slashed three students as the bus was about to leave. After the bus driver hit the horn and warned students, the man boarded the other bus, slashing and beating passengers trying to get off before he was subdued by the driver and several passengers.

FG? Check. Lives near the crime scene? Check. I think we've got the culprit right here!

At least in such happenings the jeirdo (j+weirdo) don't blame a foreigner for providing him with the knife; the boy on the highway bus in Kyushyu few years back, the Akiba guy two years ago (already?), this last one and how many others...

Is it true Sir Bob Geldof got a knighthood for proving that it's possible to live a life of opulence and excess out of being a one-hit wonder?
