Free Weekend Coffee?

Postby Mulboyne » Thu Feb 24, 2011 11:21 pm

[floatr]Image[/floatr]Language software company Rosetta Stone has opened a temporary cafe at the front of Kinokuniya book store on Shinjuku Dori, near the east exit of Shinjuku station. It'll be there until the 28th as part of a new product promotion. They aren't selling anything but, if you order in English, you'll get a free cup of coffee (limited to one per person). I'm certain this offer isn't intended for foreigners but it would be interesting to see how they might respond if you rocked up and asked for one. It might not be so easy to play the gaijin card, though: the cafe will be staffed by native speakers who might well have no qualms about telling you to get lost.

"What? No coffee? Fuck you and your piss-taste coffee!"

Oh yeah.. I forgot that there were no discrimination laws in Japan.

Thanks for the tip! The coffee was great; picked one up on the way home. The gaijin staffers were part-timers working an event gig - very pleasant and friendly.
