Hell, that little quake didn't even wake up Catoneinutica's hound in Chiba.

On an morbidly fascinating but scientifically interesting note, I am curious as to what the connection is between the Pacific quakes and the fairly strong quakes centered on northern Nagano? The northern Nagano quakes do seem to be along the Niigata-Kobe Tectonic Zone and what exactly is going on there, I have no idea.

Do you haz a moar precise map of this ? looking at it, Nagoya and Toyohashi are not on the same plate, that would explain the huge difference between the big shakes in Nagoya and the "who farted" micro shivers in Toyohashi...

Many Thanks...

BTW guys, you're getting like totally sloppy... No message for the 6.3 at 14:07 ?

Ok by our new upgraded standards it was a milk run but in 90% of the rest of the world there would be 10 thousands of death...

Sort of a slow swaying up here. 5+ somewhere in Ibaraki. And after we'd had a couple of relatively peaceful days, too.

Conclusion: don't relax, yet.

We were having a cuddly family lie in. I was not worried as I was with hubby and son and happy. If I am going to go, then this is how I want it to be.

Was briefly awaken by the quake alarm at 11:xx am (got one at 23:30 yesterday, barely had the time to run in the stairs to cover the loud speaker so the inlaws were not disturbed... everytime it rings my lifespan shorten dramatically) But even if the map say it shook here, I might have fallen back asleep before the shake reached us... (spend a fascinating night downloading picture of low-loader truck trailers until the wee hours in the morning... i knowz how to party like a Boss on friday night...)

I'd rather go on a giant fireball after a fiery crash on the racetrack... But probability are 33% chance I will be killed by my own powertools in my workshop, 33% by an electric shock or fire around the house, 33% crushed under my car while checking sumthing that just needed to be left alone... 1% remaining are during my sleep by my old psycho cat...

Debating buying a GT-R for my next car so there's a decent chance that's how I'm going out! Many worse ways...

Any car capable of nearly 300kph has potential to fuck you up...

Yikes! That was "fun" here in the southern-most slums of Denenchofu!:p

(It was centered in Chiba; I bet Catoneinutica's vicious pitbull, "Nikko," is hiding under the couch.)

I like the info straight from the Japan Meteorological Agency. It's usually up-to-date within 2-3 minutes of a quake. And it gives detailed information with the Japanese "shindo" scale, often listing hundreds of measuring stations, so you can find out exactly how much a particular city was shaking. I find this a lot more informative than sites that report the magnitude.

The main quake page is here. I just discovered there is an English version too. It looks pretty good, though it doesn't seem to have all the updates and detailed information the Japanese version has.
