AIU has instituted a "Yukata Friday" policy during August. The article doesn't say, but I reckon that's a Westerner at the table on the left.

Hey Coligny,
Please help! Considering the only French I really know are words like "fuck" and "cunt" and "Asterix," please help me out with this couple. Assuming the bird is a lemur because of the popping eyes, does the bloke then become a lamur if his does the same thing?

Late to the game... sorry... was actively GIS'ing "Vanessa Demouy" these past days...

So... that should be zee opposite...

La mur would be zee She
Le mur would be zee He... trouble beeing... it's written in 1 word, so the article split don't count... AND... mur means wall., and the French academician will fight to death to preserve the fact that wall is a HE... hiding a penis somewhere...

Now, if ya need some pickup lines (that will get you arrested on the spot):

T'es bonne salope
Tu suces ?
Je veux te pechau
Hey grosse pute, viens me pomper une baloche.

It's important to clearly pronounce each word with no more than 2 syllables since users of this level of language are not know to have mastered any 3 syllable or more word from any dictionnary. Also wear a 2 size too big overall with a slim cap, sunshade pointing as upward as physically possible. Jewels recommended, mostly gold chains and fatima hands. The important point to make is that you are "muslim" and not french despite the fact you never went further than the end of the subway line blessed by your daily patronizing...
Also remember, as I previously said, if you see a battle tank but painted dark blue, he's not running away from Germans (or training to do so) but coming for you, and they have a tradition of late braking...

Bill Chickering Movie Theater and Navy Exchange at Yokohama-Honmoku Naval Housing Area in August 1974. folks would travel a fair distance from Camp Zama to shop here on weekends because it was the best exchange of any base in the region, with the exception of perhaps the BX at Tachikawa Air Base.

I'm sure driving a Caddy around Yokohama made quite an impression back in '74

Blast from the past!
I remember being part of a high-school play we put on in that theater in around '70. The stage was kinda cramped because it was basically a movie theater, but we did it anyway.

By the way ... there were plenty of Cadillacs around Tokyo and Yokohama at the time. They were very popular with the show-off crowd (and the yaks).

I am fairly positive that is Yokosuka Base, not Yokohama, or Honmoku. The theater was moved there as they began to phase down and close Yokohama. It has been rebuilt and is in the same location, but the NEX, which was known as "A1" for the building number has been moved to the part of the base across the bay from the fixed mooring for HIM's battleship Mikasa.

Actually, USFJ members were able at that time and later, to get great buys on Caddies, Pontiacs, Lincolns etc., purchasing them used (and very cheap) from the dealers who sell cars to the GIs. These dealers would purchase them cheap at next to nothing at the car auctions, because there was no used car market in Japan in those days. Anyone with money for a car, bought a new one. Only the GIs were buying used ones. Nobody else would spring for a used gaisha and the import taxes for registration, as well as no access to parts and/or repairs.

I once bought a three year old Pontiac Catalina the size of a large garage, for a couple hundred dollars. I couldn't drive it anywhere, but major roads, but it was a tremendous hooker mobile. You good load more hooks into it than into an Izuzu dump truck. I drove that baby until the tires fell off.

Yokohama was Fleet Facilities Command until it closed, so that is not an eliminator. The exchange at all facilities more than likely were called that. Now days they are all called NEX, Navy Exchange, at any facility.

It could have been Yokohama as a lot of facilities were built on the same plan, but I do remember the "Bill Chickering" and it sat exactly like that at Yokosuka years back.

I'll defer to your memory on that one ... all I remember is that we took a bus there.

And ... a bit of trivia ... in that same high-school play was an upcoming young actress by the name of Linda Purl. She went on to marry the one and only Henry Winkler ... "The Fonz". She was at ISSH (I think) at the time. She's still quite active in TV dramas and on stage in the US.

Now I'm confused too!
Wasn't "The Benny Decker" in Yokosuka?

I just looked her up on IMDB. She was on "Happy Days" but it doesn't look like she was ever married Winkler. Her first (of 4 8-O) husbands was Desi Arnaz, Jr. though.
