Really expensive car crash in Yamaguchi

Postby dimwit » Sun Dec 04, 2011 7:40 pm

8 Ferraris, a Lamborghini, 2 Benzes and 2 other cars seem to have gotten into a nasty tassle on a highway in Yamaguchi.

Would it be inappropriate of me to indulge in a little schadenfreude about this? Just a wee bit, maybe?

Hope they had good insurance.

I'm sure they were all going too fast, if not racing.

Obviously they were driving together, you'd never see THAT many Ferraris together if they weren't.

Rich neighborhood? ;)

Apparently they were going way too fast on a wet road.

Police say the cause of the accident was improper weight distribution: too heavy in the wallet, too light in the brains.

Hope they didn't, because that will lower the probability that they will endanger other traffic in the future.

These are the kind of cars that you want to put in Coligny's garage, because he has stated that he likes cars, but not driving them.

Yup, they'd fit perfectly on my roof... I don't understand the appeal of RWD cars as daily drivers... For rally cross, certainly IMMENSE fun.. for the Jusco/top value litter replenishement trip... no fooking way...

Feel like Darwin got a field day today... wiping out so many idiots with too much money on a single crash... good job Sir Charles, you da man...

Got stuck in the traffic jam these asshats caused. Makes me feel one better for still holding on to the American traditions of flipping off and honking at people here.

After 3/11, it might not be a bad idea to have a rally capable car in the garage;)

I sorry for you, and relieved in a way -at least I can sympathise with someone in this story.

I pretty sure that if you need collision insurance for any of these suckers you probably can't afford the car.

Loved this one... as you can live inside after the war...

Image

But on paper only...

Driving position is dreadfull (even by minivan standards), engine bay setup makes no sense (you have to take apart most of the air intake to access the battery...). The 3 row of seats is not removable and is held by magic tape when fold up. The trunk door is massive mominlaw would need a ladder to reach it once open... and would certainly not weight enough to pull it down...

Also...

Not available in red...

But... in black... with few stickers...

Image

Maybeeeee...

(Just hoping the D:6 version will have a Nissan branded counter part... since they are in bed together these days...)

Wait...

(watch video)

Oh crap... it's true...

While being quite a bit over the speed limit... for such cars... 150 is absolutely nothing...

You have countless videos of people doing 200kph on their Nissan Note without crashing... which is doubly impressive (mostly the 'reaching 200' part in fact). But damn... 150 in a Ferrari it's barely starting to use it... on Krauts the speed limiter was to kick at 250 for autobahn use...

If you can afford to buy the car, you can afford to insure your investment.

Affording to maintain and drive the car already costs a fortune. Repairing it costs more. Replacing it could bankrupt you. It's not like even the rich buy these cars with cash. There are auto loans for Ferraris.

Saw them last Sunday during a bike ride to Mt. Aso in Kumamoto. A long line of supercars crawling along the busy road. In each car there was a real slag with all the necessary yanki look sitting next to the douche behind the wheel.
I was just happy to slalom between them and just leave behind some good old Honda fumes.
My one regret in life is that I am not someone else.

I actually decided to look this up on a Ferrari drivers forum (-sort of felt the same way I might if I joined an AKB48 fan forum; I have nothing in common with these people!) and yes they can get insurance, with premiums that are not as insane as one would think.

Yeah, I managed international sales for him. (mostly in the US but from the amount of inquiries we got from Cyprus, you'd think they have a statue of him there) Was on TV in different countries on more than one occasion as I often translated/managed for him at events and overseas. I still have a TOP SECRET tsunagi at home somewhere but if you dig through old event pics, I'm the only non Japanese guy in one.
