AKB might be anodyne crap, but at least there's a couple that are worth a pop. Most of these k lasses I've seen are dogs.

hundefar wrote:You may not like the music, but seriously..the choreography in many K-Pop videos is mindblowing IMO.
Regarding the music. Well, it's chewing gum pop music, so you'd have to be into that sort of thing to appreciate it. Personally I like some of it. The production is usually really, really good. Very perfect.
Then again, I understand if you hate it too

I find their shitty music and stupid videos far more offensive than their ages.

I do think that there is some good production and choreography coming out of Korea these days. Choreography-wise it is quite innovative. Music-wise maybe not so much. It is just very well done.

When "music" becomes more about production than the music, especially when glossy production is used to compensate for substandard talent, then it loses all interest for me. Production is important, but it should have a supporting role. If you take away the production there should still be music, but I wouldn't want to hear what's left with some of these acts.
The visual media are partly to blame, beginning with MTV in the 80's. Up until then music was something you listened to, but the advent of MTV made it necessary to add flashy visual impact, and that spread the artists and the production team way too thin and the music suffered. I don't think it has ever recovered.
