Firefox 9.0.1 OSx (kab0000m)

Postby Coligny » Tue Jan 10, 2012 4:26 pm

Just had the most crashworthy 10 minutes of mah life with this upgrade... reverted to 8.0.1

That thing just kept crashing so passionately that I had to use safari to re-download the previous version...

been running it for a while and no problems yet. If anything, less problems than running on 8. no need for safari yet.

I see you're the onlyone....... Some of these fixes should work up to the appropriate version you want to use.

I use Chrome as my main browser - fast and stable.
...I only use Firefox for porn. :D Strangely enough it hasn't crashed to date.

Firefox 9.0.1 on Win7 here. No crashing problems, but, since about ver. 7 it has been sucking up memory big time.
I periodically get the little warning popup saying it is using over 500MB of memory - WTF.
Since upgrading to 9.0.1 I have had conflicts with VLC media player a couple of times (had to shutdown Firefox, then VLC worked).

In fact need to disable the icon caching of showcase and it work again.

VLC... is a fooking nightmare... now for no reason the mac version don't allow more than one movie playing at a time... while the PC version still agree...
The linux version can run smoothly for few hours (6 movies on 6 different screens) then for no reason some of the windows start to slow to a crawl, CPU use climb up and you have to SSH to reboot the box...

The preferences are a mess, it's the only software where clicking on the wrong option can render the soft fubar and oblige you to trash the prefs... I don't understand why it's still a de facto option for media players... I fooking hate it...

I used to use VLC exclusively, but then I found that it ran quite a bit off the CPU rather than GPU, then I found CCCP and Media Player Home Cinema edition which lets you run 95%+ straight off the GPU and also supports just as many formats as VLC.

Currently I use a mix of both, but the quality and shaders, options etc... in MPHC lets me do more with HQ videos and I generally tend to view movies with it more.

'cause it's the easiest to operate if you're only using one hand....

Usually I prefer hazing the same media player on win and OSx... that's why I still bother with VLC...
