I wonder 2tricky was this photo taken soon after the earthquake, when many places were suffering power outages? Or is it only in Tokushima? Because the elementary students I teach, regularly tell me what they had for lunch, and I can tell you it has a lot more variety and amount of food that is shown in the picture. One boy, told me just this past Wednesday, he wasn't able to eat everything he was served there was just too much food.

Yeah I don't know. The stark contrast between the two meals seems to be exceptional, but I can't comment on how representative it may be. I just thought I'd share the post here as something noteworthy. Food for thought, as it were.

If they want to subsidize rice farmers, why not serve rice?

Anyway, I'm with canman in thinking this might be an out-of-context picture used to create a story where there isn't one. Even if it is true at least it's not like the health insurance situation in the US where prisoners are covered by the state while 50 million Americans who aren't in jail don't have coverage.

LOL, how many ways can you apply GAMAN and SHOGANAI to this?

Shoganai we have to support the rice farmers, that is Nihon no bunka!!!

This kind of pic pisses me off because it's a false comparison that gets retards excited; the real issue is the school has sold out it's kids, not that prisoners get to eat a meal

Usually the kyushoku isn't THAT plain... the days that we only get bread are by far the most half-assed days.

Anything but the soup and rice is pretty cold by the time it actually get eaten..

But by and large it's all pretty good.

I imagine that that's the best food the prisoners ever get.
