It's a game company, what do you expect? Long hours for no money is common in that field.

That's why I tell younger programmers to get a job with a good salary and spend your downtime working on hobby projects like games. You'd have to be insane (or independently wealthy) to work in the video game industry.

True true...

I had a friend back in the states who was a tester... every 3 months 30 people were hired and 2 months after the hire 35 people were fired...

He saw his day coming (several times) but survived the cut somehow...

He said it was because he came from competitor company and if he were fired he can go back and implement some tactics that he used there to the competitor.

but at the end of the day, the guys who were making these games made some good money. In Japan they just expect people to work zombie hours with shit pay for sake of the company... reminds me of my engineering days...

That's not necessarily true for iOS/Android game developers. The no money part. The hours still suck.

I am an employer of app developers and I would be embarrassed to offer that sort of salary. I had recent graduate start a few years ago and she started on more than that with no experience. She had 3 languages fluently though.

Good news is though, if that is the going rate outside my company, it is unlikely that I will lose any of my guys for a while.
