Whoa...

Postby J-Popper » Fri Sep 19, 2003 6:25 pm

well i had my 1st experience riding a train in tokyo and it wasn't a good one. Well while i was sitting down peaceful listening to my md player, I see a young maybe mid 20's young guy who was sitting in te silver seat(you guys know about that seat). An elderly came in the seat and was walking with an apparant hunch, and stood in front of the young man implying that she wanted to sit on the seat. At that very moment the young man placed his hands on his lap and faked slept(neru huri). I was absoultely disgusted! what has japan come to these days not even allowing an elderly to sit on the silver seat......

Gee, they're just being "heartful" Japanese.

However, sometimes I get surprised. Today a normal, healthy, Japanese furiyo highschool boy--- droopy trou' and boxers hanging out--- gave me his seat on the subway. That was a FIRST for the past five years!

That's very cool and a double-shock all factors considered. You must have been very happy after that: 'hey, not everyone is a selfish arse on the train.'

Learning from the outlaws

Postby kurohinge1 » Mon Sep 22, 2003 4:57 pm

A trick I learned from my J-mother-in-law, for getting a seat on the over-crowded local train, was to spot a regular (seated) passenger who got off a station or two after she got on, and then just stand in front of them every time, and just wait. There's quite a few people who ride in the same car in the same train, every weekday.

That's the excitement of the city!

PS: My tip is to pick an elderly person so you don't look like a stalker.

My tip:

If you want the seat, walk over and turn placing your ass cheeks directly in front of their nostrils, and let out a fart like a 12 gauge shotgun :D

they'll either move or die.. either way, you get your seat..

Yep.

Another trick: find a seated passenger who looks wide awake/nervous. Chances are, they are preparing to leave the train soon. If they're dozing or deeply involved in a book, they're probably commuting from the boondocks and won't be getting off the train anytime soon.
