Actually, Monty Python jokes are well understood by Japanese in their mid 40s like Mrs. Taro since NHK rebroadcast Monty Python in the late 1970s here. Monty Python jokes translate well as non sequiturs in the Japanese subtitles---and for Japanese who can understand English, the jokes seem funnier than the original.
