They're at it again with the train business.

China unveils new super-speed train that can hit 300mph (... 100mph quicker than its bullet trains)

China has produced a super-rapid test train capable of travelling at speeds of up to 300 miles per hour - 100mph faster than the current record-holder.
The train, made from plastic materials reinforced with carbon fibre, is designed to resemble an ancient Chinese sword and 'will provide useful reference for current high-speed railway operations', according to train expert Shen Zhiyun.
Earlier this year, the Communist regime unveiled its fastest operational locomotive which was able to cover the 824-mile trip between Beijing and Shanghai in five hours - reaching record-breaking top speed of 200mph and maintaining an average speed of 165mph.

FTFY

For your information:

French TGV speed record of 2007 from the TGV Duplex unit 150 was: 574.8km/h (356mph)

Their quite bold 300mph claim would put them more in line with the (French) Bugatti Veyron Super Sport with her top speed of 269.80 mph.

But that's not bad for a country of illiterate farmers building things with stolen blueprints in a language they couldn't read anyway and made from random junk found in local dumpsters and restaurants... at least it didn't crash or spontaneously explode... yet...

That's it. For your rude criticism of China, you get no methamidophos-laden gyoza for dinner tonight.

The headline is old news, and poorly chosen. There is vid of the record-setting train from a year ago on Youtube. The article is really more about the current state of and future of the rail industry in China.

Hahahah that's a good one.... a Bugatti Veyron is about as French as a Rolls Royce Phantom is British, and that's going some. At least it has French tyres...

By that metric, IKEA furniture is from wherever it's assembled, which would make yours Japanese. I'm sorry mate, it just isn't.

Molsheim does sound suspiciously German

Chinese copies aren't usually all they're cracked up to be. I'm just waiting for this one to become a disaster:

Policeman saves the child. Yeah, because the traffic would never stop for the kid.

I'm sometimes terrified and always in awe when I ride in a car in China. Rules of the road? What rules of the road?

Kids escape... all the time (*)... no need to put grandpa in jail over it...

true, but if a 3 year old has the time to sneak away, get on his bike and go to a main street... something is wrong.

me bets that whoever was watching him put him on the bike and walked away.

Chinese couple bury woman alive, sparking outrage

Chinese police have arrested a young couple who buried an old woman alive believing she was dead after their car hit the 68-year-old, newspapers said on Thursday, in a case which has sparked outrage over declining public morality.

The couple had been at an all-night karaoke session when they hit the woman while driving in the early hours of the morning in the wealthy eastern province of Zhejiang last month, the official China Daily said.
"A witness said he heard someone crying and saw an elderly woman lying on the ground near (the car)," it cited a policeman as saying.
"A man and a woman got out and put the elderly woman in the car, saying they would send her to hospital."

But, worried about being arrested for drunk driving and causing the accident and believing she was no longer alive, they buried her near the side of the road, the report added.

However, when police later found the woman's body they discovered she was still alive when she was buried, and had then suffocated to death, the paper said.
