Okay, I'm a Google ninja (even though I just kind of lucked out. Who'd have known, there's actually 5 levels (at least on the page I found) but these three seem to be the best.

Difference between the top two seems negligible. Anywho... that will help.

OK, let me tell ya...

I never even saw 5 color temperaturs. I don't know their exact rating in kelvins but the 3 you show are the only I ever saw.

the top one (blue packaging) is to be avoided like raping the corps of an ebola patient. BUT being japan, it's the default color provided with every new appliance you buy.

the middle one (green) give an excellent light. It don't make you want to kill yourself and don't distort too much the colors so for painting/hobby it's real good. This one is much harder to find.

The bottom one is yellow-ish, extremly warm I find it the most comfortable a bit borderline on brothel mood... Trouble is, it fuck-up any color your are looking at. Don't expect to colormatch anything under this light. But at least you can find bulbs without having to shop in remote places...

ALSO, being in japan all those light follow a referencing pattern (arrrrghhh) common for all maker. Their color temperatures are designated by three codes

ED for dailight (the "kill yourself and take the dog with you" blue one)

EN for Natural (the Green "ok" one)

EL for for... sumething (the red "fuck me now I are horny" one)

THESE CODES STAY VALID whatever the technology used is, they are th3 same for incandescent, CFL, LED, fluorescent tubes.

NOTA: the LED lights introduces much more color variation. Most notable being the presence of WHITE(so so) and WARM WHITE (better)...

I follow this issue like a hawk. I have bought almost a dozen CFL and LED bulbs over the past few years without any luck.:wall:

I need to replace my 1990s, 6-fixture, zombie-light, curly bulb (edison fixture), fluorescent (CFL) chandelier on a rheostat to something modern.

There is NO viable/affordable solution yet.

I have tied LEDs: Nope.
All the LED bulbs that are affordable (under 3,500 yen) are way, waaay, too dim and not bright enough.

I have looked a replacing the entire 6-fixtureon a rheostat with a LED fixture (Panasonic), but it is WAY TOO dim and the psuedo-dimming, digital rheostat only offers four levels of dimming, meh.

Solution: Wait a few of more years for affordable, OLEDs lights that are use half the electricity of LEDs, are color tunable, and don't have poisonous mercury like current CFLs.

The pseudo dinning is called "pulse width modulation" and is the most efficient way to drive leds...

that dont make it anyless miserable though...

6 fixture? What room you got that thing in that you need super bright bulbs in it?
