Anyone who refused to work would have to pay no less than NT$180,000 before her Japanese mafioso boss would release her.
Absenteeism was not tolerated. Mobsters would beat and otherwise abuse Taiwan women to coerce submission. Many would be given drugs. Some have been killed...
Escapees who succeeded in making their way back to Taiwan would have to face the mob on the island, according to the CIB report. "Our mobsters work closely together with their Japanese counterparts..."

I suppose the drugs are to make the Taiwan ladies submissive like a Japanese enjo kosai......just how Japanese oyaji like them.

Does anyone have some stats on who is using these services in Japan? I suspect police make are large part of the customers.....
