World's narrowest house...

Postby yanpa » Tue Sep 11, 2012 1:05 pm

... is under construction in Warsaw (hah, I bet you thought I was going to write "Tokyo").

World's narrowest house under construction in Poland - video

The thinnest house in the world is being built between two tower blocks in Warsaw. The house will measure 120cm at its widest point and 71cm at its narrowest. The building has been designed by Jakub Szczesny, who took his inspiration from the work of Israeli writer Etgar Keret

That isn't a house - it is an outhouse.. but looking at that diagram, it doesn't even appear to have a dunny.

In such a small place, maybe an elevator would have been a good idea...

That's because Warsaw is a shithole in its entirety.

I think it probably would have been a really good idea to get rid of the body on the third floor, too, before showing these pictures all over the intrawebz...

All building/fire codes require stairs, whether or not there's an elevator. In this case, there doesn't appear to be enough space for both the required stairs and an elevator---also missing is plumbing-wiring conduit, a dining space, or any closets.

ピンポン/Pinpon! I was right!
The 14.5 sqm Keret House has to be registered as an "art installation." According to Archdaily.com: "It will be equipped with boat-inspired water and sewage technology independent from city systems, the electricity will be delivered by a neighboring building."
