You can only tone down something that have been crafted... Music is a good example... the same music can be played many different way... (take the James bond theme "on her majesty's secret service" for example, John Barry versus Propellerheads version)... Chalk screeching on a blackboard... meanwhile... will always be the same pain...

PLastic garbage should be put for recycled plastic collection only if it's marked recyclable, in pristine condition and has been properly washed and dried. If it's tainted with food or precious bodily fluid it should be discarded with the burnables, that's why I always take a shit on my old TV set before putting them with the burnables.

(no seriously, here, dirty plastic is not considered worthy of recycling, which in fact make things incredible more simple)

Where I live they collect garbage separately, but it has recently emerged that at the dump site it all ends up the same way. My suggestion with Mrs. Russell to throw out all our garbage mixed was met with indignation, "because we have to make a good impression in the neighborhood".
