That is absolutely scandalous. Families should be suing the hospitals for such neglect.

Thats not suprissing. Did you know that a Japanese parmedic, on arrival at a scene has to phone a doctor in a nearby hospital to get permission (something that could take 10mins) before heart triage or any other procedure that even many Western Joe-public are trained to carry out.

Even at a car accident attending police will just watch - in the UK, at least they will help the paramedics......

Umm.. Sorry I'm not that good at 'rithmatic' (scary numbers to be sure) but just wondering what the true Jpn/U.S comparative might be..?!? For example the ER "rate-of-survival" in the U.S is 98% then what is it in Jpn, or if 40% of ER "deaths" in Jpn were preventable, then is there a stat. for that in the U.S..?!?
