RT reported the Russian military fired missiles at the meteor when it was at 20km altitude and travelling at a gazillion miles per hour. I had not idea this was even remotely possible, but there you go.

(No reports as to whether they actually... you know... managed to hit it and damage it in any meaningful way)

between the speed and the supposedly small size (deduced from the fact that no crater big enough for an aircraft carrier to bath in wuz found)... If they manage to fire something and hit one of the meteor, they certainly have the perfect tool from Moscow to clean Paris Hilton of her crabs, anywhere in L.A.

I'd be curious to see a chart correlating projectile size and velocity translated into bomb size equivalent... Dat factory wuz crushed good... (wonder if it's not a russian SAM going back to earth after failing to hit the target)

Weight or size alone is not enough... you need a whole bunch of entry parameters, all of which are different for each projectile to arrive at an approximate speed and angle relative to the impact surface, time spent burning up (shedding weight) before impact, etc.
