Who in their right mind would buy the convertible version of a coupe and use it on the track? No one. The convertible will be heavier and have more body flex, neither of which are at all desirable in any car, least of all on a track.

Once again, I don't disagree...but if you are nothing more that the occasional track enthusiast and want a "fun" car, it's not the worst you could do.
