BTW, I don't disagree with it just being weird to add weight and an only slight functionality to make a roadster that way...but then if you track the car, and live in a place with weather like we have here, it'll see more use than you might expect.

Who in their right mind would buy the convertible version of a coupe and use it on the track? No one. The convertible will be heavier and have more body flex, neither of which are at all desirable in any car, least of all on a track.
