There is some fishing boat tied near and more than a few fishermen. This river come from the mountain separating toyohashi and Hamamatsu I think it's quite short, that make it a quick snapper in case of sudden rainfall... And therefore a total death trap. One of those pass not too far from the clinic. In case of sudden downpour you can expect street flooding in around 20 minutes... Not much factory to dump init. Just the local water treatment plant.

Ushikawa, Toyohashi

What sort of confuses me is that Ushikawa Yuhodo as per the sign post indicates a fairly urban park, not the river bank inside the levee as per Coligny's photos. By the way, that is postwar development.

The answer to your question....TIJ.

We actually call them fags or did in the Cary Grant days at least. But shagging is a Brit thing. I just thought it was funny some JT marketing drone/s thought the idea of "love" was shagging some fag from behind. Makes sense on a lot of levels.

This one I agree with you on especially as flat as that area seems. I spent a ton of time on Sumiyoshi river and in it's valley up in the mountains there in Kobe and I watched that thing as famous and urban as it is go up a meter or more and wash over it's (rocked in) banks many times, a few years ago a few rivers west kids died there in Kobe from the mountain fed rivers. Not something to be messed with but I would think on a normal day it'd be fun to chill around. I'm kinda jealous you have that actually.

With the number of parks in Toyohashi they certainly ran out of names and had to recycle. The park you link to is 10 minutes east of where my Picts where taken.

Do you also have Toyocky as a place marker on that map ?

Good news! Even though they promote 78 different tourist attractions, the Toyohashi Visitors & Convention Association has not chosen your riverside stroll site, so not even non-yuru-characters are pointing the way for people to disturb you if you choose to use that place to get up to, well, whatever it is that you end up getting up to on deserted riverbanks.

I don't think these people show particular disdain for the arts...unless you regard the widespread appeal of AKB48 and all the other 48s as being a sign of precisely that.
Otherwise, though, it's looking pretty fucking ominous.

It's a little futile trying to compare moral standards from different eras. The greatest liberals 100 years before the civil war proudly owned slaves so this is not a parameter to use for that matter.

Shutting down democracy and forcing the South to adopt Jim Crow enslavement for another 90-odd years probably wasn't the greatest example of the GOP's fascism, nor was letting the Robber Barons have their own white (figurative) "nigrahs" in the North, too?
The GOP wasn't perhaps fascist until a little later, probably around the time it turned its back on Versailles (ultimately <much later> opening the door for the Germans to elect the Nazis and form such powerful supporters of democracy as the German American Bund), but it always had elements of fascism before that. The big difference was letting money run riot with no responsibility. Once income tax became possible, the shift toward a near-fascist GPO became more likely. (I don't really think the GPO is fascist, but I think it would certainly like to bestow fascist powers on itself if it could get away with it). IMHO, the U.S. has aspects of its character that make it pretty close to being a Teutonic state -- in mentality at least -- which make it vulnerable to the attractions of fascism.

Surely this is that same Roppongi Kingyo Club occasionally featured in Bill Hersey's columns from years ago. In which case that signpost is no surprise.

I am always careful to make no typos and to avoid proximity to the word 'highway.' My legal advice concurs.

Well, they did show some sensitivity by spelling coolie* wrong.
