Dunno why, but I have a fascination for old pictures and videos of Tokyo.

Then you might enjoy this old thread, where this video appeared before.

Aaaahhhhhhh, 60s Japan. When it was groovy for the right reasons (i.e. not for anime and manga).

I wonder if there are any archive samples of the old USAF FEN cultural primer broadcasts. I always loved Phrase of the Day, brough to you by Lieutentant William Macready, USAC

Shotsooray sheemausu...........................shotsooray sheemausu.............shotsooray sheemausu is a very useful phrase, one that can be used in a variety of daily situations....................

The downtown street scenes from old 60s movies are like gold.

Wow, good retro pull. I think it was the mix of heartfelt enthusiasm and dubios technical (in)competence that made it such a charmer. That chaplain really did put the capital C in Christian.

Apparently we're not the only ones riffing on the nostalgia:

To think that was the closest thing we had to the Interwebz, eh!??????

OK, full Showa Retro boasts: I used to live right beside Chindogu Meister Dan Papia, also the translator of Peach Girl vol. 4(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I also drank with somebody at the same 2500 yen AYCD bar where he once drank with Yan-san.

Yan-san, dood. Beat that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :biggrin2:

It's all I could come up with, but fair enough.

I'm all for earlier Showa. No Pink Ladies....................pleez.

Some Tokuzosaizensen would be welcome, though.
