Suntory "Full Body" Beer

Anyone try this? Says 100% Malt in small print. At 150 Yen for for 500ml that's pretty cheap for real beer.

you got lucky. Usually I see it for about 220 for the normal can, haven't tried it tho. Japanese big beers usually taste like shit.

Yeah, passable for a "strong" beer. Labelled as a beer, not a happoshu, so you are in luck. Where'd you pick it up?

Don Quixote in Ginowan not far from the cash registers. Probably pick some up here shortly before they decide it's underpriced. "super dry" and "foaming alcoholic beverage" makes me gag. I come from a family of brewers so to me happoshu is an abomination. Say what you will about Ze Germans but they do make good beer.

Thanks for the tip. Tokyu Hands in the nearby shopping center over by the marina sometimes has some reasonably priced English beers.

Each to his own, I guess. Mind you the German export brands aren't exactly the most inspiring, and I had to laugh when entering Yamaya recently because they had a prominent display of Oettinger, which is at the bottom end of the price range in Germany.

True, Ze Germans have their own version of budweizers and miller brands, but even then their run of the mill stuff is far more drinkable than the happoshu here. English beer is almost hit and miss. Its either phenomenal or you have to choke it down (and I'm English for the most part) Love American Microbrew and I have yet to have a bad Belgian beer. I'm sure they exist so maybe I've just been lucky. Gonna have to pick up a Delerium Tremens tonight as a matter of fact.

They also have Spitfire for the same price and a couple of cheaper (but drinkable) ones for 150 yen (at least that was the pre-tax rise price).

Union (a local suupaa) used to have this one for 100 yen/can a couple months back, but haven't seen it lately.
