Poor girl just wanted to look pretty for the OB's

Postby Samurai_Jerk » Mon Oct 20, 2014 12:22 pm

Obuchi spends her way out of a job

obuchi.jpg

Japan's high-profile and telegenic industry minister on Monday resigned over claims she misused political funds, including to buy both votes and make-up, dealing a blow to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's gender reform drive.

[...]

"It is not permissible for me as Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry to have economy and energy policies stalled because of my own problems," she said.

[...]

"As a member of the Abe cabinet... I am sorry and offer my sincere apologies for having contributed nothing to economic revival, realisation of a society in which women shine and various other tasks," she said, before bowing deeply to the sound of hundreds of camera shutters.

But wait, isn't rampant spending a manifestation of the third arrow?

Vale, daughter of the cold pizza.
I've never really understood political dynasties in a democracy.

Well, then there is...

But in Japan's seniority-based political hierarchy there was reportedly also discontent from men who felt they had served their time on the backbenches, and had been passed over for promotion in favour of an inexperienced woman.

Her elevation to the cabinet, along with four other women, was seen as part of Abe's bid to boost the role of women in society, a move seen as vital to help plug the holes in Japan's workforce and make better use of a pool of latent talent.

If I had I daughter, after all the crazy shit I've heard from lemurs...there is no way in hell I would let her go into the workforce here.

And the other options are.....

barefoot and in the kitchen?

trolling on the internet from her mother's basement?

If I were your daughter, I would be pissed off that you thought you knew so much about what would make me happy that you would tell me what to do, rather than support me in my choices.

is it OK for your sons to go into the workforce?

...or go into the workforce in another country where she is less likely to be molested, assaulted, or propositioned? I didn't say she shouldn't pursue employment, just not here. Call me selfish or say it's for my own self preservation but I don't want to end up as "the FG who beheaded his daughter's boss/coworker."

Slutty or not, the same types of stories come out from the dumb and educated ones, working at companies small and large. Scientific it may not be....but when you hear enough first hand accounts of the same shit, one tends to come to the conclusion that there is a problem.

I suppose the big question is, would Choko let his daughter go out with a Choko equivalent.

FIFY.

And the findings of that study relies on acceptance of a finding that the offspring of a male fly which is small due to poor diet during maggothood tend too be small themselves, a process which is not completely explained: is the DNA of the male flies affected by the amount of food they were given as maggots? Or is this trait transferred some other way? We do not know. They didn't test DNA, they tested whether the offspring were large or small.

So back on topic...

Justice Minister Midori Matsushima resigned after the opposition Democratic Party of Japan filed a criminal complaint against her over distribution of hand-held fans, or “uchiwa.” Matsushima is also facing complaints over using parliament-provided housing while keeping security guards at her private residence in downtown Tokyo.

:keyboardcoffee:

I made (and IPU can vouch for it) something like 35,000 uchiwa for PR the last two summers....no idea how many she handed out but since when is "over distribution of uchiwa" a crime?

A non-Japanese could never understand.

More seriously, you will have noticed that there is no door-to-door canvassing here, it is limited to shouting their name out at the train station or driving around in loudspeaker vans. I'm sure you are aware that it is all to reduce the suggestion that votes can be bought with gifts. I don't know what the quantities are in this case, but there comes an amount where excessive is undeniably excessive.

Also, it might be a time to be grateful for small mercies:
She is a supporter of death penalty. She said that Islam convicts being served non-pork meal in Japan prisons is a reverse discrimination and should be stopped (in 162nd Committee on Judicial Affairs, 2005). She also said in the same committee, "Criminals' human rights is of secondary importance." and "We should make sex criminals see movies of school girls playing in swimming pools, and use some kind of Lie detector to check if they became decent. Even if they served their time decided by a judge, we don't want sex criminals to be in the outside world."

Distribution of any goods to voters is forbidden, so technically she is a bad girl. But it's just that ... a technicality, and another trivial waste of time and taxpayer money that has been played out as fcuking politicians who don't give a shit about the real problems facing the nation jockey for position and power to serve their own personal interests. If every little breach of election law and protocol was treated in the same way there wouldn't be a soul left in the diet to argue about it. I didn't particularly like the woman, but this is just a shameful demonstration of how useless and wasteful the whole political system is.

So the fabulous five women turn out to be 2 crooks, 3 neo nazis including an anti abortionist in charge of women issues. To me, none of this is a surprise, for a woman to supoort the LDP they have to be either mindless loyal (Obuchi) or bat-shit crazy (the rest).

Have you seen any of them? With the exception of Obuchi, they are some of the most unpleasant looking women I have ever seen in Japan. Matsushima has what could best be described as a sadistic smile. Takaichi looks like she might have orc blood in her. Yamatani is 64 from her resume. She looks about 80.

Since when are Uchiwa plastered with advertising considered a "gift" though? Excessive, yeah, with you there...but using Uchiwa for political PR (waste to begin with) as a criminal offense (excuse) is just extreme. I think Yoko pretty much called it here but what is the real reason they wanted her out?

government funds were used to purchase all the uchiwa... which probably were purchased for tens of yen each. She did break the rule, so it isn't an excuse, but it is extreme to give her the bood when the OB club blows it on hostesses and expensive dinners.

Real reason? It is a political game. The ruling party spend so much time putting out fires that they can't make any progress on their political plans.

Anyway, good to see that the nepotism balance was preserved. Ex PM's daughter replaced by an ex PM's nephew. As I saw someone allude to, I suppose it makes sense: the PM is an ex PM...
