That was the cleanup after The Fappening

Which makes sense in modern America and might have had the potential for laughs but the executions wasand I was just confused by it being set in Australia (based on my encounters with what I agree is casual racism by Aussies) since I would have expected more of a "fuck off yah cunt!" or something instead of letting her by because of race?

Well the slightly deeper subtext is that she is leading a pretty yuppie lifestyle and possibly doesn't need the privilege of the race card, but I think she was let by because she is a generally pushy bitch, not because she is pushy Aboriginal bitch.

I'm just waiting for someone to say "but affirmative action is all about reaching a race target of greater priority than merit" so that I can run away saying "see, I can't express myself properly on these issues."

I have the feeling that the casual racism comment may have originated with you, Jerk.

Judging by the map below, you're not the only one who's had that impression.

The way I see it is the people in Australia are less hung up about it, not so keen be avoid being seen as racist. Once again, no comment on whether that is a good thing or a bad thing. But I also think it can be regarded as much the same as people in Kanto badmouthing Kansai Obahan in animal print tops. No one thinks you shouldn't mention that. So if I can rip into Kansai Obahan, moaning about how loud they are or how stingy, why can't I make a comment about Slopeys or Wogs? That, I think, is the level of thinking.

Except everyone I know in the US who works for tips says the same thing. One of my black friends back home even goes out of his way to tip really well because of that. Not because he wants to prove it's not true but because he knows that it is and he feels bad about it. He told me that's why he hated going out with his black friends. He'd always end up paying a lot more because he had to cover the tip and when he'd say something about it they refused to pay more.

I don't think the cheesecake will come up to scratch in either of those places.

Riiiiight...but people from a certain region that have a shared culture/mentality/etc. are a different animal than just grouping people by what they look like to you.

Today's freak-out thought: Isn't treating people differently, giving them more of less respect, purely on the basis of whether they look similar to you or not, kinda, I don't know, racist? So does that make that distinction you just made there a racist one?
