If it's anything like hockey, the worst skaters and the best are the ones with an open, international mindset....everyone in between is Nipppppppon this and Japaneeeeeeze that, totally blocking out the rest of the world when it comes to the sport...unless there is some sort of Nippon/Nipponjin connection.

I get that sometimes. I'm not saying they are wrong for their beliefs, I'm just endlessly amused at how circular their logic is at times. The same ones who cryptically are holier than thou are the same ones that I know would go to a love hotel with me should I ask for a personal phone no. (One of them even got my phone number from my kid and called me) They have money and time to gossip because their husbands are away all the time working their asses off. Many are still in Tokyo working while they send the fam of to "safe" little oki.

Yeah, nothing wrong with supporting your fellow countrymen, it's just the whole "yappari" and "nihonjin dakara" shit that accompanies it from many of them. I guess it's easier to look past when you know they want some private lessons from a gaijin with you. Usually I'm dealing with guys that have their heads so far up their asses, they fail to realize what their own local players with actual international experience are always saying the local sport lacks...size, physical play, and up-to-date tactics.

I'm beyond that point...just grinning and attempting to play their game. New guys on the team were "shocked" last week because I poke-checked every fucker that came at me like it was nobody's business. "ZOMG! Choko! you're on fire tonight? When did you become so good?!" They just don't understand I'm playing down to their "style" rather than just body up everyone that comes my way.(which is what any other club in any other hockey country does)

Three or four moms/daughters are uppity and one I'm positive is bat shit crazy. My kid has a decent personality but is somewhat eccentric because she's westernized. Some don't like the fact she's progressing faster than them. (Like what you were saying about how the great players and the worst players have a better sense of things) The senior students think it's great, the junior student are asking her for help. Only a few of her peers are getting attitudes. The reality is that she practices 2-3 hours a day.

Moleskin is pretty awesome but she actually doesn't need it. Professional figures skates are amazingly soft and cushy. The best way I describe would be like memory foam surfaced with velvet.

Hockey skates are the exact opposite...super rigid, even the tongue, but the higher end ones are at least a lil cushy around the ankle and holy shit are they lightweight nowadays. (speaking of which, does your wife bitch about the cost of FS? One of my teammates recently told his wife what skates, sticks, etc. cost and suddenly it's "We need to talk about all this money you're wasting!" )
