I would like to know more details about the resistance you encountered.

The Missus found some web site that explained that garden houses larger than 10 square meters need special permissions, so she went to the city hall to ask for more details, only to encounter a young one in charge who behaved not only like a real jerk, but did not give any helpful info. I got the impression that he had some connections with the construction industry that would prevent him from giving useful advise to people who wish to build their garden houses themselves. Fortunately, the Missus did not give her name, so they cannot track me down when I build my garden house in anonymity (it won't be visible from the street).

Anyway, I would not be surprised by your experiences.

Basically, your wife's experience x 99999 (though I don't need no stinkin' permits in the middle of the forrest/jungle.)

For something that small, you probably won't have much trouble like me. In fact, based on my friend's experience, if I were you...I'd build and then if they ask for permits/tax, pay it then. (friend built without either and when they finally called him out, he found zero penalties...just filing the paperwork and paying the proper taxes from that point on) In my case, something like the foundation requires more concrete than I can mix on my own...and so far, all the places that deliver cement refuse to sell/deliver to some nobody gaijin. (how dare I try to pay them for something they sell?!) I haven't even looked deeply into sourcing rebar yet but I won't be surprised if it's much the same unless you want to overpay for tiny pieces at the local home center. It's basically like messing with a cartel on their home turf, you either pay them to do it for you or you find people with the right connections to get what you need. (like most things in Japan, straightforward and simple is....[sucks teeth] moojookaajiii) If there is a glass ceiling in the workplace, there is a glass box when you try to DIY something the cartel could be making money off of.

Anyways, BOT: I am in Okinawa, Ishigaki specifically. I had quite forgotten this little shop of horrors, but I kid you not:

THIS IS BAT COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just saw one land on the power line; I could tell from his menacing curiosity he was sizing up the iron content of my blood.

The topic was the weather, not vampire bats and your alzheimer onset... Even when we try we can't stay on course... Fts... I came back home this evening to a circus with felines running in all direction and a Julie shouting about cat pee on her bed while trying to work the safety of a Famas airsoft rifle...
Went straight to my bunk... Apparently, despite her best try, no kitteh were 360 quickscoped... And I need trigger keylocks...

And my point is you hang out with retards. Women I associate with don't talk like that unless they're talking to babies or pets. I personally don't like people using baby talk with babies but that's hardly a Japan-only thing.

Is that because you just find it rather annoying, or do you think it's bad for their upbringing and education or whatever? If the latter, you're dead stinking wrong, but if the former, yeah, hard to argue. I love gooboogaboogoogygagagoobing, especially in Japanese where it still seems pretty acceptable. It teaches kids the playful part of language and speech, too, which is sorely under attack in the more earnest parts of the world. Or are we talking about that precious solicitous tone a lot of cat lady types use? If so, motion seconded.

BTW, it's 25 again here today. I'm back in thongs. You kids wrap up warm and be happy for me

Yeah, it's annoying and I'm talking more about nonsensical words or imitating their shitty pronunciations than using a cute tone of voice.

The killer for me is the nasal voice, I naturally filter out people voice when they seems tuned to be heard by dogs only...

Me Julie seems to be the same, but with a much shorter fuse, her best comeback was that she can't speak to dolphins... While addressing a friends daughter (toddler aged).

And yes, we have really little friends...

Damn, now I'm trying to figure out if there is a metaphor. Well I literally meant that my chili pepper plants needed to be watered. I can grow them year round here.
