It's Antarctic whaling because those whales are feeding during their summer (our winter) in the polar region. The dual advantage of whaling in a relatively small area where a large number of whales have gathered, and dealing with countries less militant than the US and Russia, who also have whales feeding in the Northern Polar Seas during the summer months - but would probably be a little less tolerant of the Japanese whaling fleet.

Korean whale fishing by "by-catch"
143555468150_20150629.jpg

http://japan.hani.co.kr/arti/politics/21170.html
653 in 2010, 1455 in 2011, 2751 in 2012, 1997 in 2013, 1849 in 2014...all of them are "by-catch" according to kimchese.

on the other hand,
japans whale fishing by by-catch is only 116 in 2013 and "research whaling" is 475 in the same year.
http://www.zakzak.co.jp/society/foreign ... 001-n1.htm

kimchese have been hunting whales under the plea of "by-catch", hiding behind japan.
nevertheless they also shamelessly have done anti-whaling acts to japan....
yeaaa its so kimchese....

I've definitely seen a restaurant in Korea openly selling whale and dolphin meat which is *supposedly illegal there.

*That's what my Korean friend who I was with at the time told me. Never bothered to confirm because I don't really give a fuck.

Where do they catch them? In the International Antarctic Reserve? And, do they eat them? All of them?
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

So, Take let me get this clear.

If Japanese catch whales it is OK to you, but if it is the Koreans then it's a crime?

That wasn't his point. His point was that Koreans criticize Japan for whaling while engaging in it themselves.

Seems pretty standard Paul the Walrus fare: if you don't agree with me you are evil, for I am the Light and the Way.
signed, Paul Watson

The fawning hero worship comments were a little much even for Facebook.

It seems like a good PR move comparing dolphin slaughter to the holocaust and slavery though. I'm sure that'll convince anyone who was on the fence.

I might be missing the intended sarcasm, but I would say: Well, 'cept for the people that still remember there's a difference between fancy fish and Hoomins, and a sustainable hunt and total obliteration..........I chortled a bit at that one. I wonder if he isn't getting ready to jump the shark? Even for him that was a touch more hysterical than usual. Perhaps this Sasaki character has actually made a decent film that exposes the fraud of the Cove?

Do you think the B'nai Brith would go after him for trivialising genocide if, say, somebody were to bring that to their attention?

Pfff... Everyone knows the holocaust didn't happen and it was a sionist trick to... Something something... (Sorry I can't keep up with revisionist madness... Change all the time and make less and less sense at every new iteration, I'm quite surprised they have not reached "lizzard people" level of insanity yet)

Does anyone, even ex military types, style themselves as Captain these days? He should go the whole hog and call himself Commodore - after all he has a little flotilla under his command.

This argument reminds me a lot of the fox hunting debate in the UK. Yes the activity is deeply distasteful, but I have never understood the morality of seeking to prevent other people from doing things than don't affect you but just because you don't like whatever it is they are doing. We don't allow religious groups to do it so why should Sea Shepherd be any different?

Or Not:
Filmmaker plans more balanced documentary on Taiji's dolphin hunt

http://ajw.asahi.com/article/behind_new ... 1505220013

Sasaki comes across as a little too sophomorically defensive in the article, I thought.
“Whether or not the hunting technique is good is a subjective issue,” Sasaki said. “I feel uncomfortable about accusing Taiji fishermen unilaterally.”

Sounds like a healthy touch of that No Judgement crap the kids are so addicted to. She makes nice points about the mutual hysteria surrounding the issue, though, so good luck to her. I don't disagree that representations of Taiji are mostly just simplistic and strategic racist BS, but this No Judgement crap drives me batty.

Do the Whale huggers actually argue that slaughter for food (piggies, beef, etc) is inherently less cruel than the dolphin hunt? So many of the comments I read are from fascist Veggieheads it's hard to get a decent read on the attitude of those that retain their sanity while opposing it.

Well said, Wage Slave. Keep in mind he is a messianic lunatic. And Canadian, too!!!!!!!!!!!! :cry2:

Paul Watson is such a self-righteous ass.

And he's so blinded by his own glorious saintliness that he can't even see how he's playing right into the hands of the opposition. Either that or the opposition is paying him to be a self-righteous ass.

THIS...all this rattlin' over a movie that isn't even in production yet???

Though how successful is another film about Taiji going to be at getting any decent footage/info/interviews?

The whale were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Like the japs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Beef pork and chicken are raised for the slaughter. Like the japs in Manchuria...

More than that, it's a community event, where the whales are lovingly slaughtered by hand the olde fashioned way. It's like an Artisan Farmer's Market of fresh flipper. It takes a village to eat a whale............

If the Japanese would just do it the old not tax funded corporate welfare boondoggle way few would complain, and the ones that did could be told to FO.
