Nearly half of unattached young Japanese are not seeking romantic partners because the effort is “troublesome,” a government survey showed.
According to the Cabinet Office survey, 37.6 percent of the 761 respondents in their 20s and 30s who were not in a relationship said they do not want a romantic partner.
Among them, 46.2 percent cited “troublesome” as the reason, followed by 45.1 percent who said they want to “focus on hobbies.”

Grabbed lunch at IKEA today since I was out there running errands...creepy guys in this country are soo plentiful, they hardly merit mention but every once in awhile you come across a really creepy woman that raises the bar. Between running back and forth to the register to grab "just one more thing" and talking like a preteen in that "look at me, I'm so cute!" nasal voice, I figured it was a dude and his daughter....then she turned to pay and it was a 40-something fugly in pigtails, caked on makeup, and arm warmers The husband had a look on his face somewhere between disgust and embarrassment as she hopped up and down, chanting "ikeya kaaado! ikeya kaado!" It only got worse when they sat down next to me...she did the "I'm sooooooo cute" voice the whole time and the guy was muttering an annoyed "hai" every so often...clearly only a few nama beers away from hanging himself. He looked soooo miserable and she was so oblivious to it....I don't think the term "troublesome" does his daily grind any justice...but thank cthulhu that they probably don't have any children.
