Cloverfield-Voltron connection disproved ?

Postby Buraku » Mon Nov 19, 2007 4:13 am

So what the fuck is Cloverfield you ask ?
Image

It's a new movie from Matt Reeves (BS movie Pallbearer) and J. J. Abrams (fun pop corn rubbish like Armageddon and the tv series LOST). It's being rapidly promoted across the internet via underground networking and stealth marketing techniques just like BlairWitch and SnakesOnAPlane.

A trailer was leaked and people speculated what the fuck it was.

Some suspects popped up
1Armageddon 2
2VOLTRON !!
3LOST the movie
4something out of a Lovecraft book
5Godzilla re-imagined with lots of loud crashes and shakey cam Fx

Looks like Slusho.jp might be a part of the Cloverfield marketing

Jessica Lucas and Michael Stahl-David play roles in the movie
A poster of Lady Liberty with her head chopped off was released

Anyone else hear about this shit or bother trying to figure it out ?

Yeah. This has been going on since the debut of Transformers. That's when the first trailer debuted. I don't know what it is. It's obvious their trying to whip up some sort of hype in the same way that the ilovebees did with Halo2, but I think they are trying too hard.
I will not abide ignorant intolerance just for the sake of getting along.

Yeah, I got all interested in SLUSHO! water, zoom, happy, power, fish, donkey, frog but it has turned out to be worse horseshit than Abrams' stinking dribbling turd without end, "Lost." Right off the the bat, Slusho is obviously just another pointless Abrams' brain poop because the faux-Japanese soft drink company is founded by a woman who turned into a whale, which is being hunted by the official Cetacean Genocide Fleet.

wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloverfield....The studio kept knowledge of the project secret from the online community, a cited rarity due to the presence of scoopers that follow upcoming films. The controlled release of information of the film has been observed as a risky strategy, in which success could equate The Blair Witch Project (1999) or disappoint like Snakes on a Plane (2006), the latter of which had generated online hype but failed to attract large audiences. Chad Hartigan of Exhibitor Relations Co. viewed the several issues with the potential of the film: lack of major stars, the underwhelming performance of Godzilla-style films in America, and the film's slated release in January, considered a "dumping ground for bad films"....

The upcoming sequel to Cloverfield is called 10 Cloverfield Lane (IMDb.com).
The premise of the film is that the Japanese drilling company, TAGRUATO (parent company of SLUSHO™), has released a deep-ocean, toxic spill that has created Cloverfield Monster(s) or stirred up the remaining one(s).

…
The Japanese drilling company Tagruato (which has been spotted as an Easter egg in other J.J. Abrams films like Star Trek) is an investor in Slusho, a candy soft drink that had a major presence in the original 2008 movie’s marketing. Many fans, to this day, believe for sure that Slusho’s toxic waste birthed the monster. In Cloverfield, Rob [Cloverfield’s main character] was on his way to Japan to work for Slusho until the monster attacked.

The tenuous connection to Cloverleaf is that TAGRUATO Corporation was the former employer of the main character of 10 Cloverfield Lane, Howard—RadioMan70 (John Goodman), who is living in a survivalist bunker hiding from world calamity/eco-disaster/Monster/own paranoia.
The surprise release in the Real-World is March 11---Japan :?:

That late Japanese release may work against them since Paramount is banking on tricking the public into seeing a mysterious/secret “Cloverfield” film.

10 Cloverfield Lane originally was a under-$5-million movie that been variously called “Valencia” and “Cellar” made by Paramount’s bankrupt Insure division. The original film had nothing to do with Cloverfield. The movie was “orphaned” and Paramount bought it back on the cheap. Since it was an already-made film, all JJ Abrams had to do was add a few more scenes to tie it into the Cloverfield universe.
