Bombs are overkill in MYHOMO. A nice fence and the courage of conviction to spread the Not Welcome message should be more than enough. After all, there are some genuine refugees in that muddy mix that deserve sanctuary. Maybe they could start a system where men of fighting age that quit chewing khat and get off their lazy, whining bottoms and fight get application preference for genuinely vulnerable family members. The idea that men of fighting age aren't driven back on sight shows the obscenity of the kneejerk pity addiction that has led to this Merkelian Morass.

Fair enough, but those were actual refugees not migrants, and Europeans fleeing to an expressly immigrant society. If I remember Canada did what it could to avoid allowing in "too many" Jewish refugees. The idea that the current migrant crisis is commensurate to the Great Migraton to Norh America is naive and dangerous in MYHOMO. I think Canada and the US could and perhaps even should allow entry to more genuine refugees but in Europe it is a political timebomb and an arrogant imposition by the charity classes. It would be a tragedy if Europe were to slip to the right because a few cat ladies decided men too cowardly to fight for their own country deserved to be treated like defenceless women and children. There is no shortage of hysterical pity junkies to speak for their favoured clientele, but I ask you, who will speak for the tourists yearning to relax in a European town square or bathe in an Aegean lagoon free from the teeming hordes of entitlement addled bacon haters?

This story gave me the cold shivers:

Bodies of Syrian refugees found in freezer
The remains of a 27-year-old Syrian woman and her two daughters, aged seven and nine, have been found in a freezer inside their apartment in southern Denmark.

http://home.bt.com/news/world-news/bodi ... qus_thread

I hope the police investigate this throroughly before the case goes cold and they are tempted to put it on ice.

That must have been a hell of a freezer to be able to store a whole family (minus the husband)...

SHOW ME YOUR FACES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

German Chancellor Angela Merkel calls for ban on ‘full veil’ coverings as she launches bid for fourth term
http://news.nationalpost.com/news/world ... -coverings

This sounds like good news, and we might yet save the game. I disagree with any such ban, mostly because it is a trivial Trumpophillic issue at the best of times, but this sort of compromise could allow a Gut Ein like Merkel to stay in power and help stem the tide of the real freaks like Trump et al, and its not like the objects of the ban are particularly sympathetic.

Is this meant to be a face-saving proposal just for the election, or does she actually intend to unveil new legislation?

I would prefer the former, but there was a quote of hers saying "wherever it is legal", which I assume rides on that weird Reichenstermen Bundes Gauleiter federal system they have. Which does help keep the Hitlers at bay, to be fair. So, yeah, from her, merely a tip of the hat to xenophobic demagogic ignorance. Aimed at the xenophobic ignorants amongst us. If you live in a nice country and walk around in a fucking pup tent, fuck yah. We need to start worrying about what matters and not about the >0.05% of cave people that don't.
This Trump shit is serious........and worse, fat white people really like it. Givin up the weirdos to stem the tide seems a fair trade.
Isn't that how we avoided WW II????

12-year old boy tried to blow up bomb at German Christmas market
A 12-year old German-Iraqi boy suspected of having links to extremist group Islamic State (IS) tried to blow up a bomb at a Christmas market in the western town of Ludwigshafen, German magazine Focus reported on Friday, citing security and judicial sources.

The boy, born in the same town in 2004, was "strongly radicalized" and apparently instructed by an unknown IS member, Focus reported.

The suspect put down a backpack containing a self-made nail bomb at the Christmas market on Nov. 26, but the device did not go off because the detonator failed, it said.

A market visitor called the police after finding the backpack and specialists defused the device, the report said.

Police identified and arrested the boy, who is now in a youth detention center, the report said, adding that the Federal Public Prosecutor had taken over investigations on the charge of a serious act of violent subversion.

Farggggggggggggggggggggg. If only it were decent to ship pighaters like that straight to Mosul the PR value for the Merkelian League would be incalculable (and yes, purely wishful thinking here)
At any rate, nice to hear lives were spared by the target demographics of radicalisation.

One out of three of those German-sounding terms is correct in relation to the BRD.

Anyway the system does quite well at keeping the loonies at bay - a 5% threshold prevents a Weimar-ish fragmentation of parties, and those monster raving parties (from both ends of the spectrum) who do manage to leap that hurdle generally make such asses of themselves that they fade away after an electoral period or two.

A pity the UK failed to adopt some kind of modern system to replace the archaic FPP constituency system. The current argument against it is that those swivel-eyed kipper people would gain a hundred seats or so, but what people miss is that it would just be giving them enough rope to hang themselves with then we can get back to normal. rather than have the Conservatives act as their only partially ineffective proxy.

There is talk about introducing that in the Netherlands too, but most people are against it (as I am).

It is better to let the loonies have a voice in parliament, because then they are less likely to act out some secret and highly damaging conspiracy in society.

Did I tell you there is a Party for Animals in Dutch parliament? And a party for people above the age of 50?

At least 12 dead as truck rams crowd in Berlin Christmas market
A massive black truck plowed into a Christmas market teeming with revelers in west Berlin on Monday, killing 12 people, wounding dozens more and leaving Germans mourning a national tragedy during the holiday season.

The incident, described by the White House as an apparent “terrorist attack,” had echoes of the deadly truck assault in the French city of Nice in July, which killed 86 people and was claimed by the Islamic State. German Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière told Germany’s ARD national broadcaster: “I don’t want to use the word attack yet, although a lot points to one.”

German authorities late Monday were questioning a male suspect arrested several hundred yards from the site, who matched a description of the truck driver. A dead body was found in the passenger side of the truck, which had Polish license plates.

Two senior German officials briefed on the matter told The Washington Post that the suspect is believed to be a Pakistani national who arrived in February as an asylum seeker. If the man is confirmed as the culprit, it is likely to fuel an already heated debate in Germany over Chancellor Angela Merkel’s decision to open the door last year to nearly 1 million migrants, most of them fleeing war in the Middle East.

The deadly incident occurred near the historic Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in the Breitscheidplatz, a major public plaza. The bloodshed came at the height of activity at the Christmas markets, a cherished German tradition that draws locals and tourists to city squares for mugs of mulled wine, grilled sausages and regional sweets, as well as shopping at quaint stalls that sell handmade ornaments and other items.

In Berlin, the festive scene turned into panic shortly after 8 p.m. Monday as the truck veered onto the sidewalk and crashed between market stalls, running 50 to 80 feet before stopping, according to witnesses. Some victims were pinned under its wheels while others were struck and tossed onto the pavement.

According to police spokeswoman Valeska Jakubowski, 12 people were killed and 48 were being treated at a hospital.

After the incident, the scene remained a horrific tableau of crushed wood, broken glass and blood. Lying near the truck was a fallen Christmas tree, its star toppled.

Government spokesman Steffen Seibert tweeted: “Terrible news from #Breitscheidplatz. Chancellor #Merkel is in touch with interior minister and gov. mayor.”

On the scene, first responders were carrying off people in stretchers Monday night as police with machine guns cordoned off the area.

“It’s terrible, just terrible,” said Berlin Mayor Michael Müller. He said it was up to authorities to establish the facts, adding, “We always hoped that we wouldn’t have this kind of situation in Berlin.”

Following a rash of arrests, plots and attacks, Germany — like much of Europe — has been bracing for a terror assault on Christmas markets. Security had been beefed up, with guards checking bags at entrance points. So far this year, German officials have arrested more than a dozen people suspected of involvement in terror plots, while two others have carried out small-scale attacks.

Tacky has all the finesse and nuance of a lump hammer but he has a point. There is a background to this. For decades we have installed and maintained repressive and corrupt kings and dictators in the middle east using our money and military power to keep them in place and people subservient. For decades we have enabled Israel and other client states to brutalise their neighbours. We killed so many people in Afghanistan and Iraq that nobody could even keep count. We never thought it really mattered or should ever affect us directly. When it did, we responded with more of the same and now it's affecting us more yet, the right wingers are calling for even more killing and repression. What was that definition of insanity again?

The same has been said after Paris, but I sincerely doubt the people killed were staunch supporters of western ME policy of the past 50 years. Actually, I recall Germany and France being vehemently opposed to the Iraq invasion of 2003 and catching massive flak for this in western media. And yet, here we are.

I really wish they would take the fight to the people who actually are the cause of their misery. Instead, they just go for low-hanging fruit. The very people who were welcoming them as refugees, even.

A noble enough wish but that's terrorist organisations for you. A lot of the time they attack the easy targets and ordinary people for the simple fact that it is so much easier. The IRA were no different at all. Attacks in Belgium, France and Germany are happening because it is relatively easy to do so more than for any other reason.

As DAESH are being driven from their fucking Caliphate we can expect them to lash out more and more unfortunately.

WS, I agree with your previous post, but I disagree with you and Tsuru assuming without evidence that the source of this terror in Berlin is Islamic. It could as well be some ultra-right wing group that wants to antagonize the population against Islam. It could even be a secret service. So, let's wait with judgement until evidence is in.

Finally, it is good to keep in mind (and this comment is particularly directed to Tsuru) that the reason why the west is fighting against Assad is that the latter (and his Russian masters) is opposed to a pipeline to transport oil from Saudi Arabia to Europe. So, we are fucking up the lives of a lot of people in Syria, just for the oil. Iraq and Afghanistan were of course the same.
