I think gps precision for civil and military has been unified some years ago and purposeful degradation would be accompanied with a wurnang notice at least to private pilots. A degradation like this would be perfectly understandable from a safety/strategic standpoint.

But...

Glonass devices are affected too...

And NASA space weather mailing list warn about these disrupting flares sending timely alerts 5-6 times a day now instead pf the usual "buy our merch' we got new t-shirt design" daily newsletter...

Hmm, my keitai navi missed a left turn yesterday. Thought it was, because we were driving underneath a flyover. But it found the "Gusto" eventually, so our wedding day aniversary celebratory dinner was delayed by less than 5 minutes.

With my luck, every time that happens, it's in a tunnel I wasn't prepared for, on the expressway.....and the system locks up or starts bouncing you off course so that you can't even check the written guidance. 15mins and several kilometers of toll later, if I'm lucky, I'm able to restart the unit and try again.

Reading that spaghetti is a lost art and I've done it a few times....but not in Tokyo where the spaghetti has too many toppings.

I find Tokyo not too bad to get around, but some of the country town's extended wiggly suburbs can be totally befuddling. I usually follow a policy of going straight until I hit either a river or a major road. Which is fine for getting out of being lost, but not so great for not getting lost in the first place.

One thing I do is look at the road on Google street view before I go, and write down the route, with junction names and road numbers.
