You're right but that's a pretty unique scenario where they're working in buildings with walls designed to stop x-rays and such. It's just reliable and more cost effective. Last I read, they were moving towards some sort of encrypted app (by local terminals or something) as a replacement though as the one-way communication these provide is far from ideal.

Sidenote: Just like all those photocopies of our ID's that are made by local drones without a clue how they are stored/secured/disposed of....a few years back I had a physician here show me (unbeknownst to him) my girlfriends allergy test results (from a few days prior) as an example to show me how to read my results when they arrived. Knowing someone's allergies probably won't get many people upset but I imagine J-medical staff aren't quite as concerned with patient privacy as in other countries. (though maybe that should be obvious when the front desks of most clinics demand to know what's ailing you in front of a captive audience)

Yep, all the grannies in my neighborhood definitely need that gossip ammo...I keep expecting to hear talk of kowai foreign bugs but usually they just sweet/silly and wish me well.

I liked my Aussie friends approach the best though. Guy sees a MILF in the waiting room and blurts out in loud English, "yeah, yeah, picking up the painkillers for my penis reduction surgery." I keep telling him she probably didn't understand but he got a smile from her on the way out.
