Happy for them and the sport in Japan but worry it turns out like the WBC with local jiji telling me how superior Japanese Rugby is the best in the world.

Just tell them you saw quite a few foreign faces in the Japanese team!

It was still a tremendous performance. They played really well, as a team, to get that win. Great for the tournament and good for thinking towards people who live here but don't look like the majority.

I have enjoyed it immensely. Saw England vs Tonga in Sapporo, England vs USA in Kobe and Australia vs Wales in Tokyo. The latter being a cracker of a game and the result I wanted. The other two were not really matches but were good events nonetheless. Was sat next to Americans in Kobe. Apparently rugby is now the most popular game in Californian and east coast universities - but is still more or less unknown outside those domains. We will see, but they could well be competitive by the next world cup. There was a gentleman with a MAGA cap and a T Shirt with:

On the back. He kept whirling around hoping for a fight but there was none to be had. I don't know why people want to bring their divisive politicking to an event like that. It just seems so obviously unwanted and inappropriate.

All good fun and Japan is doing a brilliant job of hosting it.

One of the niches where "Turning Japanese" has a real advantage. Good for them.

Japan v Scotland is on.

Biggest match in Japan rugby history. They should win. The Scottish forwards will not know what hit them. re:Ireland match.

Plus, if its tight, Japans screaming crowd support might tip it for them. Although I wonder if that might work against them too, the weight of pressure a la their opening fixture vs Russia

The Japan team have spent an unparalleled and astonishing 240 days of this year in camp. 8am to 7pm. Teamwork and fitness-wise they are a well-oiled murder machine. I predict a divine wind of retribution for Scroteland buttfucking them out of the last RWC when Japan won 3 games and somehow went out in the pool stages

Have they announced they are allowing spectators? Last I saw it was undecided.

Edit: Ah, it was updated 20 min. ago.

Agreed, Scotland can stand down their lawyers but now really need to think about how they are going to win against a team that is showing all the signs of developing into a really good and well led unit. As you say they can expect a ferocious assault up front and equally ferocious defence. Scotland will have to produce a performance above and beyond anything they have shown so far to win. If I were a betting man, the money would be on Japan to win by at least 7 points. And they could put on quite a few more - some of the handling and running in the backs is up there with the best.

Even for a total rugby newb, that was fun to watch. What is up with the triple sakura logo though? Has more of a Nork vibe to it than something out of Japan.
