Well, it's the grammar of "briefly alight" that's fukcing weird as it should be something like: 'swiftly alight' or 'quickly get off'.
The phrase "briefly alight" means the passenger "briefly" steps off the train and steps back on.

I think that this month's manners is to stop blocking the door in a crowded train when people deeper in the carriage want to get off. They want the person blocking the door to get off the train briefly and then get back on to continue their journey.
