descend from a train, bus, or other form of transport.

"he was the only passenger to alight from the train"

Hahahahaha, highfalutin indeed. I would ask if it better to be rebel scum or deported convict scum but the important thing to remember is we're not Brexit scum.

Good thing they drink kawwwfee in Bawhston nowadays but they still get very defensive about colour

(srsly though, is alight commonly used in the UK/AUS?)

stoopid METRO signage wrote:"To allow others
on and off smoothly,
it would be great if
people could briefly alight."

Well, it's the grammar of "briefly alight" that's fukcing weird as it should be something like: 'swiftly alight' or 'quickly get off'.
The phrase "briefly alight" means the passenger "briefly" steps off the train and steps back on. :???:

You mean like the Japanese original 一旦降りられる ?

I think that this month's manners is to stop blocking the door in a crowded train when people deeper in the carriage want to get off. They want the person blocking the door to get off the train briefly and then get back on to continue their journey.

Some countries use drones to get the "Stay Home" message across.

Japan uses drones bearing signs.

At first this looks like a typical engRish sign problem.

People walk on a street next to a "stay home" notice as a preventive measure against the blue alien virus in Tokyo on May 12.
