Not likely all of them are reporting false numbers but of the ones who are not, can we really say with any certainty it was actually authoritarian action that legit kept the numbers low? Is Japan an exception? It has certain advantages such as being a nation of islands but the gov response here hasn't been much besides finger wagging about wearing masks, closing shop early, and hand sanitizer everywhere. I was really worried but the yamanote covid-19 explosion never happened...so we're left with real world results that just masking up, using hand sanitizer, social distancing, etc. is effect and no authoritarian lockdown was necessary. That being said, keeping the covidiots out of businesses and venues has been trouble when there is such an anti-police sentiment and nobody wants to be the one to risk manhandling the human biohazards to remove them. Agree or not, you comply or you are not welcome certainly seems like a reasonable strategy if there is enforcement.
